Michel Picard (born November 7, 1969 in Beauport , Québec ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player who played for the Hartford Whalers , San Jose Sharks , Ottawa Senators , St. Louis Blues , Edmonton Oilers and Philadelphia Flyers in the National Hockey League , as well as the Adler Mannheim in the DEL and Frölunda HC in the Swedish Elitserien was active.
Career
The 1.80 m tall winger began his career with the Trois-Rivières Draveurs in the Canadian Junior League QMJHL , before he was selected ( drafted ) in the 1989 NHL Entry Draft as 178th in the second round of the Hartford Whalers .
After he had first been used with the Binghamton Whalers and the Springfield Indians , two farm teams in the AHL , the left shooter completed his first NHL appearances for the Whalers in the 1990/91 season . In this season he also achieved the franchise goal record of the Springfield Indians with 56 AHL goals , with which he also won the Calder Cup , the championship of the American Hockey League.
In the NHL, however, Picard never made his breakthrough, other stations in addition to the Hartford Whalers were the San Jose Sharks , the Ottawa Senators , the St. Louis Blues , the Edmonton Oilers and the Philadelphia Flyers . Only in the 1998/99 season he was there for an NHL team, the St. Louis Blues, during the NHL play-offs on the ice. For the 2001/02 season , the Canadian signed a contract with German champions Adler Mannheim , with whom he was able to win the runner-up in the first season, but then moved back to North America to the Grand Rapids Griffins in the AHL. From the 2004/05 season, Michel Picard played with the Prolab de Thetford Mines in the Canadian minor league LNAH, whose scorers list he led in each of his first three seasons, in 2007 also the league-wide scorer list. After the 2008/09 season, the Canadian finally ended his active career and then worked as a scout in the organization of the St. Louis Blues.
