Joseph Georges Claude Pronovost (born July 22, 1935 in Shawinigan Falls , Québec ) is a former Canadian ice hockey goalkeeper who played for the Boston Bruins and Canadiens de Montréal in the National Hockey League from 1952 to 1963 . His brothers Jean , André and Marcel were also professional ice hockey players.

Career

Claude Pronovost began his career as a hockey player with the Cataractes de Shawinigan, for which he made his debut in the Quebec Senior Hockey League in the 1952/53 season. In the 1953/54 season, the goalkeeper played for the junior teams Montreal Jr. Royals and Kitchener Greenshirts. The following season he began with the junior team Montreal Jr. Canadiens and finished them in the senior division in the Quebec Hockey League with the Saguenéens de Chicoutimi. From 1955 to 1959 he was a regular with the Montreal Royals in the Quebec Hockey League between the posts. In the same period, however, he also came to missions for the Boston Bruins and Canadiens de Montréal , for which he ran up in a total of three games in the National Hockey League . In the Quebec Hockey League he also played for the Saguenéens de Chicoutimi and Cataractes de Shawinigan and in the Western Hockey League for the Edmonton Flyers . In the 1958/59 season he was elected to the first All-Star Team of the Quebec Hockey League and received the Vezina Memorial Trophy as the best goalkeeper in the league.

In the 1959/60 season Pronovost went to for the Calgary Stampeders in the Western Hockey League. In the following three years he stood in the Eastern Professional Hockey League between the posts during one season each for his ex-club Montreal Royals and the North Bay Trappers and Hull-Ottawa Canadiens . He then ended his career at the age of 28.
