history
The bank was founded on April 15, 1930 as Brandenburger Spar- und Kreditbank eGmbH. Nine years later, the name was changed to Volksbank Brandenburg (Havel) eGmbH. In May 1945, the Volksbank Brandenburg closed its counters “as a result of the enemy alarm” and only a year later on April 11, 1946 did it start business again.
In 1966, the Bank für Handwerk und Gewerbe Brandenburg (Havel), which had been entitled since 1947, merged with the Bank für Handwerk und Gewerbe eGmbH Brandenburg-Plaue. Further mergers with banks in Nauen, Golzow, Wusterwitz, Drewitz, Ziesar and the surrounding area followed and the business area was expanded to include Havelland and Potsdam-Mittelmark.
Several changes of name accompanied the takeovers of the rural banks until the Volksbank für Handwerk und Gewerbe eG Brandenburg, which had been known as Volksbank für Handwerk und Gewerbe eG Brandenburg, merged with Raiffeisenbank Brandenburg eG on July 2, 1991 and was renamed Brandenburger Bank Volksbank-Raiffeisenbank eG.
