history

Today's Bausparkasse Schwäbisch Hall AG was founded in Cologne in 1931 as Deutscher Bausparer AG, Bau- Spar- und Ausuldungskasse by members of the local Chamber of Crafts . After the company's headquarters were relocated to Berlin in 1936, the Deutsche Zentralgenossenschaftskasse and most of the commercial Zentralgenossenschaftskasse took part in the company, which was now called the Gesellschaft für two-digit basic loan, Deutscher Bausparer Aktiengesellschaft . The Volksbanken followed in 1941, and since then it has been known as the Bausparkasse der Deutschen Volksbanken .

The company's headquarters were bombed out in 1943, and in 1944 the business with the rescued business documents was relocated to Schwäbisch Hall. The decision to keep this city as the company's headquarters was made in 1947. The creation of new living space was important at this time, which was subsidized by the state from 1952 with the housing subsidy. Since the conversion into the joint building society institute of the Volksbanken and the Raiffeisen Association in 1956, the company has been called Bausparkasse Schwäbisch Hall AG . In 1970 the last name change to the present day took place in Bausparkasse Schwäbisch Hall AG, Bausparkasse der Volksbanken and Raiffeisenbanken .

With the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1990, business was expanded to include the new federal states. The legal change in 1991 meant that for the first time own holding companies could be founded abroad. Subsidiaries were established in Luxembourg and France and subsidiaries in Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Romania, Hungary and the People's Republic of China.
