Cornelius Riese

Cornelius Riese (born February 20, 1975 in Heidelberg ) is a German bank manager and has been co-chairman of the DZ Bank since January 1, 2019 .

Career

Born in Heidelberg, he studied business administration at the University of Mannheim from 1994 to 1999 with a degree in business administration . During his studies, Riese worked on internships abroad for BASF and the strategy consultancy McKinsey . In 2005 he received his doctorate from the Technical University of Chemnitz . From 1999 to 2006 Riese worked for the international management and IT service provider Accenture in strategy consulting for financial service providers. In 2007 he moved to DG Hyp as division manager . The cooperative real estate financier was in a difficult phase and faced restructuring. The strategic realignment, which was largely implemented by Riese, was successful.

In May 2009 Riese moved to DZ Bank AG as Head of Staff (General Secretariat / Shareholdings / Strategy). In 2012 he was first appointed as a general representative and in 2013 as a deputy member of the board. From 2014 to 2018 he was a member of the Board of Management responsible for finance, strategy and controlling. Riese played a key role in the further development of the DZ Bank Group's strategy, including group coordination.

Since the beginning of 2019, Riese has been Chairman of the Board of Management of DZ BANK - together with Uwe Fröhlich - with a focus on managing the bank's holding activities.

Riese is married and has three children.

Riese is chairman of the supervisory board of the companies of the DZ Bank Group: Bausparkasse Schwäbisch Hall , R + V Versicherung , Teambank , Union Asset Management Holding .
