Banking specialist

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Certified banking specialist is a publicly recognized qualification at master's level , which is awarded after successfully completing industry- related commercial advancement training in accordance with the Vocational Training Act. The nationwide examination takes place on the basis of a special statutory ordinance before the examination board of a Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK). Graduates are exempt from the written part of the trainer exam .

Various educational institutions in Germany usually offer two-year extra-occupational exam preparation courses with a volume of around 500 hours; However, participation in a course is not compulsory for admission to the examination.

As part of the introduction of the German Qualifications Framework (DQR) by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research in 2013, the certified banking specialist (IHK) was assigned to DQR / EQR level 6, which equates the title with the academic degree of a bachelor's degree . This should enable better comparability of the degrees. In this context, the term “Bachelor Professional of Banking (CCI)” was specified for the English translation. This enabled international comparability.

history

The advanced training to become a banking specialist was introduced by the banking academy (today: Frankfurt School of Finance & Management ) in the early 1970s and was initially a private educational offer. The goal was to enable bankers who did not study at university to take on more complex tasks in credit institutions . The banking specialist is primarily due to the banking business, which has become more and more complex since the 1970s. In 1972, with the transfer of examination authority to the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, advanced training was converted into a training profession recognized under public law, which is on an equal footing with the master craftsman .

Exam admission requirements

At the time of the examination, the person to be examined must be able to provide evidence of at least two years of professional activity at a bank after completing his qualification as a banker. For test participants without appropriate training, a corresponding employment of six years is required.

Exam preparation courses are usually offered by private providers such as the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management , the Genoakademien der Volks- und Raiffeisenbanken or the Sparkassenakademien . They are each chargeable.

Content

In addition to general and specific knowledge of banking management , which includes, for example, liquidity control, equity calculation and the annual financial statements of credit institutions, prospective banking specialists will be trained in the subjects

as well as examined in a specialization module. The advanced module enables you to acquire deeper knowledge in the specialist area of private customer, corporate customer or real estate business. In this way, the necessary professional qualifications for taking on qualified tasks in a credit institution are imparted in a practical manner.

Furthermore, the theoretical part of the trainer examination according to AEVO is integrated in the advanced training to become a banking specialist. This enables successful graduates to take part in a shortened trainer aptitude test at the IHK, in which only the practical part is asked.

Areas of application

The current requirements of the banking business show in practice that bank clerks without further training rarely perform tasks beyond service activities and private customer advice. The banking specialist has now become a recognized, industry-wide basis for taking on qualified tasks. These primarily include high-level tasks in private customer business (e.g. private banking ), work as a business customer advisor or real estate specialist in the field of mortgage lending. The banking specialist is also often the basis for taking on an assistant position in the respective specialist area, which ultimately opens up a broader career path. After several years of professional experience in a specialist area, banking specialists often have the opportunity to take on a management role in credit institutions (e.g. branch managers or department heads).

Subsequent training

The trend over the last few years shows that due to the competition between dual training at the vocational academies , banking specialists usually also need further training, such as banking management, in order to take on management tasks. Alternatively, it is possible to take up a university degree at a technical college or university . As a matter of principle, banking specialists are entitled to take up academic studies even without the general higher education entrance qualification . It is often also possible to have individual services, for example from cost and performance accounting, credited to a university. As a further alternative, banking specialists also have the opportunity to be examined as a certified business economist at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry after further training .

Promotion of advanced training

Course participants are entitled to apply for Master BAföG . This is granted without checking the income or assets situation and is therefore available to every course participant. Funding over 30% of the course costs is common.
