Career
Traverse began his junior career in the 1991/92 season with the Shawinigan Cataractes in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League . In his rookie season , the attacking defender got 14 points in 59 games, whereupon he was selected by the young franchise of the Ottawa Senators in the NHL Entry Draft in 1992 in the third round in 50th place. After him the following year, that of a change in the QMJHL with the Saint-Jean Lynx were managed was marked, a total of 39 points in 68 games, he came for the senator after leaving the Lynx out of the playoffs for two games in their AHL - Farm Team , the New Haven Senators . The following season also went on, during which he was able to improve his point production again.
For the game year 1994/95 Traverse finally switched to the professional camp and played for the Prince Edward Island Senators in the AHL. In this of the team from Prince Edward Island he came in the course of the 1995/96 season to five missions in the NHL with the Ottawa Senators, in which he did not score a scorer . It was two more years that he had spent with the Grand Rapids Griffins , Worcester Ice Cats and Hershey Bears before he could fight for a place in the roster of the Ottawa Senators for the 1998/99 season . His NHL rookie season was followed by a solid year in which the defender made a name for himself with 23 points in 66 games. His achievements led to the elimination of the Senators from the playoffs, that he was appointed to the squad of the Canadian national team for the World Cup in Russia . After losing in the semi-finals and in the game for third place, he finished fourth with the team and remained without a medal. Despite the good performance in the preseason, Traverse was given in June 2000 by the Senators to the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim , which transferred him to the Boston Bruins after only five months . The Canadian only stayed there for three months, as the Bruins sent him to the Montréal Canadiens in his hometown. Although Traverse played for three different franchises games this season, he came to 71 games and 14 points. The defender remained in the Canadiens organization for the following three seasons. After he was able to complete only 25 games in the 2001/02 season due to protracted injuries to the knees and head, he was an integral part of the NHL team's defensive team in the 2002/03 season . In the 2003/04 season, however, he was only used with the Hamilton Bulldogs in the AHL. Dissatisfied with the situation, he moved to the Dallas Stars organization as a free agent in the summer of 2004 , where another season in the AHL, this time with the Houston Eros , followed due to the NHL lockout . The following year Traverse was also in the AHL and came to only one use for the Dallas Stars in the 2005/06 season . He moved back to the Montréal Canadiens, who deported him again to the farm team, whereupon he was transferred to the Worcester Sharks during the game year .
Overall, the French-Canadian remained in Worcester until the end of the 2008/09 game year and showed undreamt-of qualities on the offensive in his final year. After his expiring contract had not been extended, the DEG Metro Stars from the German Ice Hockey League signed him for the 2009/10 season in July 2009 . In 2010/11 and 2011/12 Traverse played for the Hamburg Freezers , after which he ended his career. He has since worked in North America as a financial and investment advisor.
