Joseph Gilles Dominic Lavoie (born November 21, 1967 in Montreal , Québec ) is a former Austrian - Canadian ice hockey player (defender) who played for the St. Louis Blues , Ottawa Senators , Boston Bruins and Los Angeles Kings in the National from 1988 to 2004 Hockey League as well as the Hannover Scorpions in the German Ice Hockey League and the VEU Feldkirch in the Austrian Ice Hockey League .
Career
Dominic Lavoie began his career as a hockey player with the Saint-Jean Castors , for which he was active from 1984 to 1987 in the Canadian top junior league Québec Major Junior Hockey League . He then received a contract with the Peoria Rivermen , for which he played the following five years in the International Hockey League , where he also played a few games for their cooperation partner from the National Hockey League , the St. Louis Blues . With the Rivermen he succeeded in winning the Turner Cup in the 1990/91 season . During the 1992/93 season, the defender was on the ice for both the Ottawa Senators and the Boston Bruins in the NHL. However, he spent most of the season with their farm teams from the American Hockey League , the New Haven Senators and Providence Bruins .
After a year with the Los Angeles Kings in the NHL and the Phoenix Roadrunners and San Diego Gulls in the IHL, the Canadian went to Austria in the summer of 1994, where he received a contract with VEU Feldkirch , with which he then in 1996, 1997, 1998 and 1999 won the Alpine League four times in a row . He was also four times Austrian champion with Feldkirch from 1995 to 1998 . Lavoie, who was elected to the Alpenliga All-Star Team in 1997, was able to recommend himself with his performances in Austria for a contract in the DEL with the Hannover Scorpions , for which he was active for three years from 1999 to 2002. He then returned to Feldkirch, where he ended his career in 2004. In December 2010 he returned for three games to VEU Feldkirch and scored two goals.
International
Lavoie took part in the 1999 , 2000 , 2001 and 2002 world championships for Austria . He was also in Austria's squad at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City .
