Career

The 1.87 m tall defender began his career with various teams in the Canadian junior league Ligue de hockey junior majeur du Québec before he was selected ( drafted ) in the 1987 NHL Entry Draft as eleventh in the first round by the Detroit Red Wings .

Already in his last two LHJMQ seasons, the left shooter sniffed AHL air with the Adirondack Red Wings , a farm team of the Detroit Red Wings, in 1989/90 he then completed his first NHL missions. By the time he moved to the Philadelphia Flyers in the 1993/94 season , Yves Racine had managed to become a regular with the Red Wings, which also changed in Philadelphia as well as his engagements with the Canadiens de Montréal from the 1994/95 season and the San Jose Sharks did not during the 1995/96 season . Other NHL stations Racines were the Calgary Flames and the Tampa Bay Lightning, until he moved to Jokerit in 1998 in the Finnish SM-liiga .

After a year in Scandinavia, the Canadian was drawn to the DEL record champion Adler Mannheim, who played for four seasons and with which he won the German championship in 2001 . In 2003 , Racine left the Adler for ERC Ingolstadt, for which he was on the ice for one season. The defensive man ended his career in 2006 with the Prolab de Thetford Mines in the Canadian minor league Ligue North Americaine de Hockey .

International

With the Canadian national ice hockey team Racine won the silver medal at the 1991 World Cup , and in 1994 he was even world champion with the Canadians.
