The Rafales de Québec were a Canadian ice hockey franchise of the International Hockey League from Québec . The venue for the Rafales was the Colisée de Québec .

history

The Atlanta Knights were relocated from Atlanta , Georgia , to the city of Québec in 1996 and renamed Rafales de Québec due to the impending demolition of the Omni Coliseum and the formation of the Atlanta Thrashers' NHL team . In Quebec, they filled the void caused by the relocation of the Québec Nordiques to Colorado a year earlier. The Rafales reached the playoffs for the Turner Cup straight away in their first season , but were eliminated in the second round. In the 1997/98 season they missed this and had to stop playing in the IHL after only two years due to financial problems.
