Éric Perrin (born November 1, 1975 in Laval , Québec ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player who has played for the Tampa Bay Lightning and Atlanta Thrashers in the National Hockey League during his playing career .

Career

Éric Perrin began his career as a hockey player for the University of Vermont , for which he played for four years from 1993 to 1997. He then played three seasons in the International Hockey League for the Cleveland Lumberjacks , Quebec Rafales and Kansas City Blades . The attacker was active in the Finnish SM-liiga for another three years . In Finland, Perrin played for Jokerit Helsinki , Ässät Pori , HPK Hämeenlinna and JYP Jyväskylä .

After numerous club changes, Perrin returned to North America in 2003, where he received a contract with the Hershey Bears from the American Hockey League . Towards the end of the 2003/04 season he was named by Tampa Bay Lightning in their NHL squad. In the regular season he played four more times, but remained pointless. In the playoffs he received significantly more ice time at Tampa and so he was allowed to play twelve times. In the playoffs he contributed to the first-time Stanley Cup win by Tampa Bay Lightning through his first assist in the National Hockey League .

During the NHL lockout in the 2004/05 season Perrin signed again with the Hershey Bears and was named the most valuable player of his team. Because of his charitable work, he was also named Man of the Year . Rather than re-extend with the Bears, Perrin decided the following year to Europe to change and spent a year at the SC Bern in the Swiss National League A . During the playoffs of the 2005/06 season he strengthened the EHC Biel in the NLB . After the end of the season in Switzerland Perrin signed again with the Tampa Bay Lightning and scored on November 2, 2006 his first goal in the National Hockey League in a game against the Philadelphia Flyers .

From July 1, 2007 Perrin was under contract with the Atlanta Thrashers and completed 159 NHL games for the Thrashers before he was committed in September 2009 by HK Awangard Omsk from the Continental Hockey League . In October 2010 he moved to JYP Jyväskylä in the SM-liiga.

Perrin ended his active career after the 2018/19 season.
