The Huntington Hornets were an American ice hockey franchise of the International Hockey League based in Huntington , West Virginia . The Hornets' venue was the Veterans Memorial Fieldhouse .
history
The Grand Rapids Rockets from the International Hockey League in 1956 of Grand Rapids , Michigan , according to Huntington , West Virginia , relocated and renamed Huntington Hornets. In their first and only season, the team missed the final of the Turner Cup with fifth and penultimate place in the IHL , with the second-placed Indianapolis Chiefs with 57 points only one point more than Huntington's in the regular season. Following the 1956/57 season, the franchise was sold and relocated to Louisville , Kentucky , where it then took part in the IHL's gaming operations under the name Louisville Rebels .
