history

The Muskegon Lumberjacks continued the game operation of the Muskegon Mohawks in the IHL in 1984 . The club won the Turner Cup , the championship of the IHL, in the 1985/86 and 1988/89 seasons . In total, the Lumberjacks made it to the play-off finals six times. Since 1985, those responsible for the Lumberjacks cooperated with those of the Edmonton Oilers from the National Hockey League . After this cooperation was ended in 1987, the Pittsburgh Penguins tried to get both teams working together. This was finally received and existed until 1990.

At the end of the 1991/92 season, the Muskegon Lumberjacks moved to Cleveland and played there under the name Cleveland Lumberjacks until 2001 in the International Hockey League.
