The Akron Americans were an American ice hockey franchise of the International Hockey League based in Akron , Ohio .

history

The club was founded in 1948 as a franchise of the International Hockey League , which had been founded three years earlier . They replaced the Akron Stars, who played in the Ohio State Hockey League from 1946 to 1948. In their first and only season, the Americans reached fifth and last place in the South Division. In the 32 games of the regular season, the team was only able to achieve four wins, whereupon they stopped playing after just one year.
