history

The Omaha Knights from the International Hockey League moved to the Central Hockey League in 1963 . The IHL license then went to the Toledo Blades, which began playing in the International Hockey League for the 1963/64 season . In their first season they took first place with 86 points after the main round and finally won the play-off final and thus the Turner Cup , the championship of the IHL. Furthermore, they were awarded the Fred A. Huber Trophy as the best team in the main round.

After the club failed to qualify for the finals in the following two years, the team succeeded again in the 1966/67 season to win the Turner Cup. Between 1967 and 1970, the Blades no longer took part in the play-offs. At the end of the 1969/70 season, the team was renamed Toledo Hornets .
