In the chorus, Eminem asks himself how it could come that his friends wouldn't contact him anymore and their friendship was slowly breaking up. It wasn't he who had changed since he became famous, but she. Eminem raps in the first verse mostly about his relationship with Proof, who grew up with him and was always by his side and stood by him when his uncle Ronnie committed suicide. But since he has been a star, he has felt that Proof has stepped back and given him the cold shoulder. Then Kon uses Artis, who raps about his relationship with Eminem. They used to be good friends, but Eminem put his girlfriend Kim above him. He warned him about her and caught her cheating, but Eminem only insulted him as a liar. In the third verse, Proof raps that he is grateful to Eminem because he now has financial security thanks to him. However, Eminem shouldn't hold him responsible for everything that goes wrong in his life. From his point of view, Eminem had kept his distance and could not even look him in the face. In the single version, Bizarre then raps about his relationship with Eminem, while Swift talks about how people's behavior changed after you became famous.

Music video
The music video for How Come was directed by Davy Duhamel.
Eminem is sitting at a conference table in the studio of his label Shady Records and is watching an old video from a performance where he is brought on stage by Proof. Shortly afterwards, the other five D12 members sit down at the table and Eminem raps his view of things to them. In between you can see scenes that the rappers were supposed to show in the time before the commercial breakthrough, when they had fun together. Then a wild discussion between the D12 members begins at the table. While Kon Artis raps his verse, he and Eminem face each other like in a rap battle , surrounded by a cheering crowd. Scenes from a party are shown where Kon Artis and Kuniva watch Eminem's girlfriend Kim kiss another man. Kon Artis then calls Eminem, but when he arrives at the party, Kim pretends that nothing has happened and hugs him. Now a physical argument begins between the band members in the conference room. While Proof raps, he also argues with Swift and Bizarre over showing them a flyer for a gig that only has the names of him and Eminem on it. The band members remain quarreled in the studio at the end of the video.
This is followed by a one-minute clip for the song Git Up , in which the D12 members aggressively rap their text into the camera in front of an animated background created using blue screen technology .
