Intro / Outro Eminem

The song ironically picks up on Eminem's special status within the group, as he became famous and helped the other rappers to succeed. Eminem is portrayed as the band's lead singer looking down on and envious of the other D12 members.

In the chorus, Eminem sings that the women would love him because he was the band leader, although they wouldn't even know the name of his group. Then he raps how groupies throw their clothes on stage at the concert and then come to him in ecstasy and offer him blowjobs , whereupon his bandmates get jealous because they also want a piece of the cake. In the second verse, Swift raps about the disadvantages of the other D12 artists, so he would have to drive in a van while Eminem had a tour bus . In addition, he would often be mistaken for Kuniva. Kuniva and Kon Artis then talk derogatory about Eminem, who enjoys priorities and steals the show from them. In the third verse, Proof joins this and says that Eminem gets 90 percent of the band's income. Bizarre raps last, claiming that he is actually the one who deserves the most attention in the band since he produced the beats and wrote the lyrics. In interviews, however, he was only asked about Eminem, which is why he decides to leave D12 and start his own band with rapper The Real Roxanne. He knocks Eminem down and instead sings the last chorus of the song.

production

My Band was produced by Eminem, using no samples of other songs. The song was recorded at 54Sound Studio in Detroit .

Music video

The music video shot for My Band was directed by Philip G. Atwell and Eminem.

It starts with Eminem getting a massage from scantily clad women in his backstage room while the other D12 members are held up in front of the door by his bodyguard. Then Eminem raps while he drives with other women in a stretch limousine , while the others have to wait for the bus. The rest of the video is based heavily on the content of the text: Eminem raps on stage and is pelted with underwear by female fans while the others stand in the background. After the performance, he is approached by two groupies (whose roles he plays himself). Swift snatches the microphone from Eminem and raps while lying on the floor among the concertgoers. Kuniva and Kon Artis are rapping backstage, holding a magazine with Eminem on the cover. Bizarre parodies the music video for In da Club by 50 Cent : It hangs from the ceiling and tries to lose weight through various fitness exercises. The videos for Eminem's songs Lose Yourself and Superman are satirized in short sequences . Finally, Bizarre knocks Eminem down on stage and sings the chorus himself.

The video was nominated for Video of the Year , Best Group Video, and Best Rap Video at the MTV Video Music Awards 2004 , but failed to win any of the awards.
