Megan Thee Stallion
Megan Thee Stallion (born February 15, 1995 in Houston , Texas ; real name Megan Pete ) is an American rapper , singer and songwriter .
Life
Pete was born and raised in Houston on February 15, 1995. Her mother Holly Thomas worked as a rapper under the stage name Holly-Wood and regularly took her daughter to the recording studio. She wrote her first rap lyrics at the age of 16. According to her mother's advice, she only started her rap career at the age of 21 due to partly ambiguous texts. In 2013 she first attracted attention because of a cypher against other male colleagues at her then university. Over the course of the year, she was able to build a fan base by regularly posting her freestyles on Instagram . During her youth she was often referred to as a stallion ( English for " stallion "), which ultimately gave her stage name.
On March 22, 2019, she announced her mother's death during a live stream.
Career
Her first mixtape Rich Ratchet and the accompanying single Like a Stallion she released in 2016. The EP Make It Hot followed a year later . At the beginning of 2018 she signed with the label 1501 Certified Ent. her first record deal and released the EP Tina Snow for the first time in June with label support . The name came from a self-made alter ego . The project received consistently positive reviews.
In November 2018, she became the first female rapper to sign with 300 Entertainment . The label change enabled her to break through with the release of the song Big Ole Freak . In April 2019 the single reached the Billboard Hot 100 for the first time and a little later reached number 65. On May 17, 2019, their first commercial mixtape Fever was released, which again met with positive approval from critics. It immediately reached number ten on the Billboard 200 .
June 2019 she was selected as one of the participants of the annual freshman List of XXL magazine announced. Her freestyle during the Cypher received positive feedback.
