Jack D. Walker

Jack D. Walker (born April 5, 1922 in Girard , Kansas , †  September 1, 2005 in Kansas City , Missouri ) was an American politician . Between 1987 and 1991 he was lieutenant governor of the state of Kansas.

Career

The sources on Jack Walker are not very rich. He studied medicine at Pittsburg State University and the University of Arizona and served in the US Army Medical Corps during World War II . Politically, he became a member of the Republican Party . In 1971 he was elected Mayor of Overland Park City. He was confirmed five times in this office; so he was able to complete six terms. Also in 1971 he took up his professorship at the Kansas University School of Medicine . From 1985 to 1987 he was a member of the Kansas Senate .

In 1986, Walker was elected Lieutenant Governor of Kansas alongside Mike Hayden . He held this office between January 12, 1987 and January 14, 1991. He was Deputy Governor . During this time he was also acting head of his state's health ministry. He died on September 1, 2005.
