Andrew J. Felt
Andrew Jackson Felt (born December 27, 1833 in Victor , Ontario County , New York , † June 27, 1912 in Garden City , Kansas ) was an American politician . Between 1889 and 1893 he was lieutenant governor of the state of Kansas.
Career
Andrew Felt initially taught as a teacher. After studying law and becoming a lawyer, he began to work in this profession. He also worked as a newspaper publisher. He lived in Bradford, Iowa , until the outbreak of the Civil War . During the war he served in the Union Army . In the meantime he was taken prisoner of war. After the war, he first lived in Iowa again. Politically, he was a member of the Republican Party . In the years 1868 and 1872 he took part as a delegate at the Republican National Conventions , at which Ulysses S. Grant was nominated as a presidential candidate. In his home country he worked as a post office owner. He also got into the banking industry. At an unknown time between 1872 and 1884, he came to Seneca , Kansas. In the presidential election of 1884 he was one of the Republican electors from that state.
In 1888, Felt was elected Lieutenant Governor of Kansas alongside Lyman U. Humphrey . He held this office after a re-election in 1890 between January 14, 1889 and January 9, 1893. He was Deputy Governor . Felt was also a member of the Grand Army of the Republic Veterans Association . He died in Garden City on June 27, 1912 and was buried in Seneca.
