De Lanson Alson Newton "D. A. N. “Chase (born April 26, 1875 in Jay , Vermont , †  October 19, 1953 in Ottawa , Kansas ) was an American politician . Between 1925 and 1929 he was lieutenant governor of the state of Kansas.

Career

D. A. N. Chase attended Central Business College in Leavenworth (Kansas) until 1893 . After completing a law degree at the Omaha School of Law and being admitted to the bar in 1901, he began to work in this profession. He later founded the D.A.N. Chase Motor Company , the Pleasanton Monument Company, and the D.A.N. Chase Dry Goods Company . He also became the owner of the Burke Printing Company in Fredonia . He also entered the banking industry and became President of the First National Bank of Pleasanton . He also worked in the real estate industry.

Politically, Chase joined the Republican Party . He was a treasurer of the Pleasanton School District for nine years . Between 1916 and 1920 he was a member of the House of Representatives from Kansas ; from 1920 to 1924 he was a member of the State Senate . In 1924 he was elected Lieutenant Governor of Kansas alongside Ben Paulen . He held this office between January 12, 1925 and January 14, 1929. He was Deputy Governor . In 1928 he unsuccessfully sought his party's nomination for gubernatorial elections. Chase was a member of several organizations and associations. He died in Ottawa on October 19, 1953.
