William Yoast Morgan

William Yoast Morgan (born April 6, 1866 in Cincinnati , Ohio , †  February 17, 1932 in Hutchinson , Kansas ) was an American politician . Between 1915 and 1919 he was lieutenant governor of the state of Kansas.

Career

In 1871, William Morgan came to Cottonwood Falls , Kansas with his father , where he attended public schools. He then studied journalism at the University of Kansas . In the following years he worked in the newspaper industry. He bought The Hutchinson News , which he ran until his death. Morgan was also involved in other papers. Politically, he became a member of the Republican Party . Between 1899 and 1903 he held the office of State Printer . Between 1903 and 1910 he was a member of the House of Representatives from Kansas .

In 1914, Morgan was elected Lieutenant Governor of Kansas alongside Arthur Capper . He held this office between January 11, 1915 and January 13, 1919. He was Deputy Governor . In 1916 and 1920 he took part as a delegate at the respective Republican National Conventions . In 1922 he ran unsuccessfully for the office of governor. In terms of business, he had meanwhile expanded his area of ​​operation to include other areas beyond the newspaper industry. He was associated with the Hutchinson Printing Company , among others . For a short time he was also President of the State Exchange Bank . He was also a member of several organizations and associations. William Morgan died in Hutchinson on February 17, 1932.
