Shelby Smith

Shelby Smith (born August 8, 1927 in Saint Joseph , Missouri ) is a former American politician . From 1975 to 1979 he was lieutenant governor of the state of Kansas .

Nothing is known about Shelby Smith's youth and schooling. He lived at least temporarily in Wichita , the largest city in Kansas. Politically, he became a member of the Republican Party . He graduated from the University of Kansas and served in the United States Navy in both World War II and the Korean War . Afterwards he worked for the FBI at times .

He later served in the Kansas House of Representatives . In 1974 he was elected lieutenant governor of his state alongside Robert Frederick Bennett . He held this office from January 13, 1975 to January 8, 1979. He was thus Deputy Governor .
