Jacob W. Graybill

Jacob W. Graybill (born April 17, 1861 in McAlisterville , Juniata County , Pennsylvania , †  March 24, 1934 in Junction City , Kansas ) was an American politician . Between 1929 and 1933 he was lieutenant governor of the state of Kansas.

Career

In 1876 Jacob Graybill came to Kansas with his parents, where he would reside for the rest of his life. The family ran a farm in Harvey County . Jacob attended the public schools in his new home. After a subsequent medical degree at the University of Kansas and his license as a doctor in 1898, he began to work in Mound Ridge in this profession. In 1903 and 1904 he improved his medical knowledge at the Philadelphia Polyclinic School and at the University of Pennsylvania . After that he practiced in Newton . Until 1908 he was also the health officer of Harvey County. In the meantime he also worked as a doctor for the national guard of his state. He was also a member of several medical associations. Politically, he joined the Republican Party . In the presidential election of 1908 , he was one of the electors who officially elected William Howard Taft as US President .

In 1928, Graybill was elected Lieutenant Governor of Kansas alongside Clyde M. Reed . He held this office between January 14, 1929 and January 9, 1933. He was Deputy Governor . From 1931 he served under the new Governor Harry Hines Woodring . He died in Junction City on March 24, 1934 and was buried in Newton.
