John E. Moore

John E. Moore (born July 13, 1943 in Charleston , West Virginia ) is an American politician . Between 2003 and 2007 he was lieutenant governor of the state of Kansas .

Career

John Moore attended Washington and Lee University in Lexington ( Virginia ). He then studied law until 1968 at the University of Kentucky . He later went to Kansas, where he became chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He also directed Kansas, Inc. and Kansas Technology Enterprise Corporation . He was also active in the youth movement and led the so-called Kansas Children's Cabinet . In the Wichita area he was also active in the cultural field. For example, he founded the Greater Wichita Area Sports Commission , of which he became chairman. He had been with the Cessna Aircraft Company since 1982, where he became one of two vice presidents in 1999. In 2002 he gave up this job to work in politics.

Politically, he was initially a member of the Republican Party . In 2002 he switched to the Democrats . In the same year Moore was elected Lieutenant Governor of Kansas on the side of Kathleen Sebelius . He held this office between January 13, 2003 and January 8, 2007. He was Deputy Governor . Until 2004 he also held the office of Minister of Commerce in his state. Then the position of lieutenant governor was converted to a full-time job for the first time. He also chaired a governor's strategic planning committee. It was about the consequences of the closings of military bases in Kansas.
