David J. Hanna

David John Hanna (born June 4, 1866 in Illinois , †  April 12, 1946 in Glendale , California ) was an American politician . Between 1903 and 1907 he was lieutenant governor of the state of Kansas .

Career

In his youth, David Hanna and his family came from Randolph County , Illinois, to Clay County , Kansas, where he grew up. Since 1888, he ran his father's farm in Graham County . There he mainly grew wheat. In 1892 he also entered the real estate business, where he became very successful. Politically, he joined the Republican Party . He served in the Kansas Legislature in 1896 and 1897 . However, the sources do not note which of the two chambers of parliament he belonged to. Hanna also served on the Republican State Board for Kansas. In June 1900, he took part as a delegate to the Republican National Convention in Philadelphia , on which President William McKinley was nominated for re-election.

In 1902, Hanna was elected Lieutenant Governor of Kansas alongside Willis Bailey . He held this office after a re-election between January 12, 1903 and January 14, 1907. He was Deputy Governor . From 1905 he served under the new governor Edward W. Hoch . After the end of his time as Vice Governor, David Hanna did not appear politically. He died on April 12, 1946 in Glendale, where he was buried.
