James H. DeCoursey

James H. DeCoursey Jr. (born July 7, 1932 in Kansas City , Kansas - † October 17, 2016 in Topeka , Kansas) was an American politician . Between 1969 and 1971 he was lieutenant governor of the state of Kansas.

The sources on James DeCoursey are very poor. What is certain is that he was born in Kansas City and later lived at least temporarily in the city of Mission in Johnson County . Politically, he became a member of the Democratic Party . In 1968 he was elected Lieutenant Governor of Kansas alongside Robert Docking . He held this office between January 13, 1969 and January 11, 1971. He was Deputy Governor . DeCoursey also ran unsuccessfully for a seat in the US House of Representatives in 1970 , but was defeated by Republican Larry Winn with 46:53 percent of the vote.
