Move Your Body ( dt. "Move your body") is a song by Australian singer-songwriter Sia . It is the fourth single from their studio album This Is Acting , which was released on January 16, 2016 . The song's single was released on January 6, 2017. As early as October 2016, the remix by Norwegian DJ and producer Alan Walker, which was included on the deluxe version of their album, brought the track into the charts of selected countries. Influenced by electro-pop and dance-pop , the song was released through Inertia, Monkey Puzzle and RCA .

Move Your Body was originally written for Shakira , but Shakira declined to accept it. Sia said in a 2015 interview with Rolling Stone :
"One of the songs was rejected by Shakira, you will hear which one it is, because I sound like Shakira in this one."
In addition to Sia, the American musician Greg Kurstin , who also produced the song, is behind the song . The final version appeared for the first time as part of their seventh studio album This Is Acting on January 29, 2016. A single release was not planned at this time. The song does not represent any of the songs that could reach the charts through downloads alone. The electro-pop-heavy track, partly with house beats, couldn't attract much attention at the time.
The deluxe version of the album, released on October 21, 2016, featured a remix version of the song by Norwegian producer Alan Walker, who was breaking through at the time . The single contains a so-called single mix, which corresponds to the length of the original version, but is much more poppy and has a different sound design. A lyrics video appeared for the first time on January 12, 2017. Similar to the previous one, this is already very creative.
Musical and content
The album version of Move Your Body is 4 minutes and 7 seconds long. The speed is 128 bpm . The striking, aggressive kick during the first verse stands out in particular. Only a few irregular synthesizer background effects accentuate Sia's voice. To start the chorus, the kick takes on a different design and a number of other synthesizer instruments take over. Rhythmically, the song is based on a 4/4 time with some rhythmic additions that occur within the song and partly reflect house and trap sounds. All in all, the album version represents a mixture of electro-pop and dance-pop .
The Alan Walker Remix is also designed in 4/4 time and at 128 bpm. Walker said about the remix
“I always think it's important to develop the Alan Walker sound further and try to get as much inspiration as possible from the entire music industry and, for example, from where it is going. When producing, I try to have an influence on this sound. A good example of this is my remix for 'Move Your Body' by Sia. In addition to the typical Alan Walker sounds, the basic characteristics of electro and progressive house music are recognizable. The melody singing known from the original in the second part of the chorus was used as a bridge to the drop.

“Move Your Body [Sia] tries a straight up Europop / dance floor number, but suffers from a lack of separation from the crowd. It's an obvious club hit, but it also feels a little predictable and safe in the context - pleasant indeed, yes, but too calculated to make any sense of the engagement, comparable to Robyn on autopilot. "
Billboard's Carl Wilson described the song as "overwhelming," while Vulture's Lindsay Zolandz thought it was "the most ridiculous song on the album." Live performance
The live performances for the song have always been very similar since then. Sia stands a little apart with a big bow on her head, as you know it from the music video for Cheap Thrills . A dancer can be seen on stage, choreographing the song. On a chair in the background sits a slumped, motionless man who only gets up towards the end of the second stanza and shortly before the transition to the chorus begins and makes abrupt movements. The light flickers in very saturated colors, mostly yellow and purple, to match the music.

The music video is set in an American mall in 1987. It starts with a little girl who wears the typical Sia black and white bob haircut and is taken to a photo op by her family.
