history

The discotheque was located under the Roßmarkt and was integrated into a former pedestrian underpass in 1998. The architecture was designed by the architects Bernd Mey and Christian Pantzer. In 1999 the discotheque received an award as an exemplary building and recognition for the German Architecture Prize .

After the Omen nightclub in Frankfurt was closed in 1998, the U60311 became one of the most important techno clubs in the Rhine-Main area .

In the course of investigations into the suspected trafficking and consumption of narcotics , a raid on U60311 was carried out in May 2002, during which several people were provisionally arrested. After the search, the club was closed by the police, which led to the Roßmarkt being blocked by several hundred angry guests. With the help of Sven Väth , the police were able to break the blockade.

In 2006 there were major renovations, with the club's website also being revised.

In 2009, the U60311 club organized the “Hafentunnel” event, which was attended by around 30,000 visitors.

In 2010 the club was ranked 88th among the best clubs in the world according to DJ Mag .

In 2011, the resident DJ Oliver Anderson tried to set a world record in spinning marathons in the U60311. The attempt to record was canceled after 118 hours for health reasons.

In April 2011, several club bouncers beat and kicked a British guest to death in the nightclub; They put the seriously injured victim in front of the front door without offering any help; the man died of his injuries two days later in the hospital. The operator continued the operation of the discotheque two days after the crime and only changed the security service. The bouncers were sentenced to long prison terms for manslaughter. The Federal Court of Justice later overturned the judgment, and the regional court only sentenced the perpetrators for bodily harm resulting in death.

After various discussions between the operator and the city of Frankfurt as the landlord of the property, it was decided on April 3, 2012 that the Technoclub should be finally closed on June 30, 2012. In addition, the two above-ground entrances were to be removed in order to beautify the area. The club's closing party began on June 30, 2012, under the motto Rien Ne Va Plus, and ended on the evening of July 3, 2012 at just before 9 p.m. A month later, however, the liquidator surprisingly announced that the club should reopen on August 15th.
