Commander Tom (actually Tom Weyer ) is a German techno - producer and DJ .

Career

Tom Weyer has been a DJ since the 1980s, initially in the “Trianon” disco in Ötigheim near Rastatt, Baden-Württemberg, which was popular at the time. The owner there, Mr. Kölmel Senior, always said “He would be the commander on board his discotheque”, hence the nickname “Commander Tom”. Then he switched to Roland Kopf's “Drops SuperDisco” in Kehl / Goldscheuer (Baden-Württemberg) and the associated “ Radio Drops ”, and in the 1990s also to the “Rheinpark” disco in Germersheim (Rhineland-Palatinate). He was one of the hottest black music DJs there, but with the burgeoning techno movement, he tended towards harder rhythms.

Since the founding of the Noom Records label, which belongs to the Neckargemünder Undercover Music Group (UCMG), in July 1993 he was responsible for the production and selection of releases as A&R director and hit the nerve of the scene with the mixture of hard trance and acid techno . Noom 06 (by Tom de Luxe aka Commander Tom ) became one of the best-selling records of its time and was played in scene clubs as well as discos . His first own production (together with DJ Peter Pan) Are am Eye appeared as Noom 13 and helped him achieve a worldwide breakthrough. Since then he has produced under various pseudonyms such as Chef New Yorker , Nexus 6 , Phan-Tom , Tom De Luxe and Toronto . He was also part of the formations Der Tanzbefehl , The Freaquez , König Deluxe and Mandala and had appearances at major events such as Energy (1992 to 1996), Tribal Gathering and almost all Love Parades . From 2001 a series of remixes by Are am Eye appeared on Pulsive, with Commander Tom reaching number 1 on the national dance charts. At the end of 2004 he made it to # 1 in the German club charts with “Attention” and was also signed to the English label “Ministry of Sound”. The hit hit # 23 in the UK sales charts straight away.
