Life

Roland Kopf was born in Kehl-Goldscheuer as the son of a retailer family. He attended elementary and secondary school in the Goldscheuer district and then until 1975 the Lender home school .

He got into motorcycle racing through the daily use of technology in his parents' business. As a member of Dieter Braun Racing team of Dieter Braun went head race in the 350-cm³- and 250 cc class. At the last German championship run of the 1980 season at the Nürburgring , his championship title in the 250 cc class was already certain. Head came off the track during the race, when he accelerated across the lawn towards the road again, the front wheel of his Yamaha got stuck in a water ditch running across the track. Head fell headlong over the handlebars at a speed of around 70 km / h and landed on his back. He suffered a vertebral fracture and has been paraplegic ever since .

On September 9, 1981, Roland Kopf opened the large discotheque Drops in his hometown, which was very well known in the 1980s and 1990s. He also operated the pirate station Radio Drops in Strasbourg from 1987 to 1989 , which broadcast on 107.7 MHz. At the border to Karlsruhe , a relay transmitter operated by radio relay on 105.90 MHz was added later. It was broadcast in German, French and Alsatian. The team also included Sandra Laeske and Uwe Carsten, who both came to Schwarzwaldradio via Hitradio Ohr , and Tom Weyer alias " Commander Tom ", who became successful in the techno scene .

Kopf has been running a food wholesaling and retailing business in Kehl for many years, now as an online business, a hardware store since 2011 and an agency for event technology.

Since 2009 there have been "drops" revival events.
