Oliver Lieb (* 1969 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a music producer in the field of electronic music (in particular techno and trance ). With more than 100 publications, he is considered one of the most productive artists in his branch. He also appears regularly as a DJ .

biography

Oliver Lieb gained his first musical experience as a bass player in soul and funk bands. His first own publications took place under the pseudonym "Force Legato" at ZYX Music , whereby these were first discovered by Torsten Fenslau and put on record. In 1992 he met Matthias Schindehütte (from the Frankfurt label Harthouse ) and signed a contract with him for his techno project Spicelab . This project developed into one of the figureheads of the Frankfurt techno scene. Lieb also produced numerous pieces of music with other artists of the techno scene who have now become very well-known (including, for examplePascal FEOS and WJ Henze aka Gecko). In 1993, Lieb published for the first time under the pseudonym "LSG" (on superstition ), which he has kept to the present day. In 1994 he played together with Stevie B-Zet (Steffen Britzke) the music for the literary CD "Word" by Rainald Goetz . Also in 1994 there were recordings and later appearances with Harald Großkopf under the common pseudonym "The Ambush".

In 1995, Oliver Lieb was one of the first artists to decide to split up with Harthouse and from then on continued alongside his newly founded label Spy vs. Spice on his numerous publications on other labels (including many on the Hamburg label Superstition ). Together with Torsten Stenzel , trance decouplings were created under the name Paragliders, for example, which combined very spherical components with positive harmonies. Since Lieb never wanted to limit himself to a certain style of music, he kept creating new projects in the process, each given a new pseudonym. Over time, Oliver Lieb became known through his numerous remixes for a wide variety of artists, which were published under his real name and sometimes under one of his pseudonyms.

production

Oliver Lieb prefers analog synthesizers for his productions . He always takes care not to integrate any devices or sounds that have been used countless times (such as the Roland TB-303 ) and whose sound characteristics are already very well known to the listener. Oliver Lieb's music consists of many unusual tones, sounds and noises, which he mostly interweaves into unconventional melodies, underlaid with typical techno rhythms.

Every now and then interviews with Oliver Lieb are printed in well-known synthesizer magazines because his studio equipment consists of many rare and unusual devices.

He wrote the score for Alone in the Dark (2005).
