Jam & Spoon was a successful German trance and dance duo from Frankfurt am Main . Jam & Spoon consisted of Rolf Ellmer ( Jam El Mar ) and Markus Löffel ( Mark Spoon ). Ellmer and Löffel produced among others also as “Trancy Spacer & Spacy Trancer” under the project names “Tokyo Ghetto Pussy” and “Storm”. At the beginning of the 1990s, your productions had a major impact on the national music scene. Spoon was 39 years old and died of heart failure on January 11, 2006 in Berlin .
Band history
The first release "Stella" (on the EP "Tales From Dancographic Oceans") became one of the biggest club hits of the year in 1992 and brought Ellmer and Spoon to the top as a producer team. Since then, Jam & Spoon have also produced very successful remixes for Dr. Alban , The Age of Love , Moby , Frankie Goes to Hollywood , Enigma and Queen .
In 1993 the single "Right in the Night" was released. The mixing of trance elements with acoustic guitar (basic melody is from Asturias by Isaac Albéniz) and the singing of singer Plavka Lonich made the production successful in the charts as well as in the clubs . The included bonus track "Follow Me" became a trance classic. In 1993 two albums were released : "Tripomatic Fairy Tales 2001" and "Tripomatic Fairy Tales 2002". 2001 is characterized by dance / trance elements. 2002 has ambient influences. Both albums were well received by critics and audiences.
In the years that followed, Jam & Spoon focused primarily on the recipe for success of “Right in the Night” and they achieved high chart positions several times. The album Kaleidoscope was released in 1997, new remixes of the first Jam & Spoon classic Stella in 1999 and in 2001 be.Angeled with Rea Garvey , while they recorded some club hits with the more dance-oriented projects “Tokyo Ghetto Pussy” and “Storm”.
In 2004 the album Tripomatic Fairy Tales 3003 was released. The list of guest singers: Plavka Lonich, Jim Kerr (singer Simple Minds ), Rea Garvey (singer Reamonn ), Dolores O'Riordan (singer The Cranberries ), Tricky (guest musician on Massive Attack ), Xavier Naidoo , Shweta Shetty, Virginia Nascimento, Midge Ure , Mark Gardener and Mike Romeo. In September 2006, a collection of well-known club tracks and remixes by Jam & Spoon was released in memory of Mark Spoon.
In April 2013 a remake EP of the successful song Right in the Night was released, which contains remixes from several European dance projects and DJs. These include Groove Coverage , the Michael Mind Project , David May and the Bodybangers . The two producers David May & Amfree entered the German single charts in May 2013 at number 38 with their new version of Right In The Night 2013 . The new version was also sung again by the then singer Plavka.
