biography

2007–2009: musical beginnings as a remixer

Before the two DJs and producers merged in 2007 under the name "Bodybangers", they had already produced for various solo projects in the international house and electro scene. They first achieved notoriety with their debut single Famous , and subsequently with Sunshine Day , which developed into successful club hits. This was followed by remix jobs for Kate Ryan , Kim Wilde , Stromae , Alexandra Stan and Klaas, among others .

They became known to a larger audience from 2007 onwards through numerous remixes for the German dance act Groove Coverage . To this day, the two of them work closely with the duo and have made a name for themselves in the scene.

2010–2011: Breakthrough with body talk and freak

They achieved their breakthrough with Bodytalk in early 2010, when it was one of the most played tracks on Germany's Next Top Model . It made it into the top 50 of the German single charts and made it into the top 10 of the download charts from iTunes and Musicload . The song was sung by the singer Joyce.

In 2011 the duo recorded the song Freak together with the German producer Klaas . The song was able to follow up on the success of their previous single Bodytalk and hit the German and Austrian charts. In Austria, the track was represented in the upper half of the hit parade for 22 weeks. In addition, the track was at the top of all relevant dance charts. The vocals of the song come from the Kazakh singer Victoria Kern , who is not specified as the singer. The song I Like , released only a few months later , was recorded with Klaas and Victoria Kern. Although she was not named as an interpreter here either, she could be seen in the music video. To date, this has been viewed over 10 million times.

2012–2013: Success through cover songs

In autumn 2012, the duo began to re-record earlier disco tracks in collaboration with Victoria Kern. They started with the song Get Get Down by Paul Johnson from 1999. Here they used the instrumental. The lyrics have been rewritten. They released the track in October 2012 under the title Tonight . Second, the trio took on the song Break My Stride , in the form of Blue Lagoon , from 2004. The rap part was taken over by the ex-front singer of the dance project RIO , Tony T. This single was the first chart success in two years and could reach the top 100 in Germany and Austria.

In April 2013 a remake EP of the successful song Right in the Night was released, which contains remixes from several European dance projects and DJs. These include Groove Coverage , the Michael Mind Project , David May and a remix by the Bodybangers. The new version of Right In The Night 2013 rose to number 38 in the German single charts in May 2013. The new version was also sung again by the then singer Plavka.

The Bodybangers worked as producers, remixers and songwriters in December 2013 on the song Camouflage . The official performers are M.IAM.I, Victoria Kern and the American rapper Flo Rida . At the same time, another cover version by Bodybangers and Victoria Kern was released in December. This time they reinterpreted the song Pump Up the Jam by Technotronic . In addition to Germany and Austria, the remix was able to reach the charts in Switzerland for the first time.

2014: Moved to Sony Music

For January 2014 Sony Music was planning a re-release of the 90s hit It's My Life by rapper Dr. Alban . The title track of the single was supposed to be a remix by the Bodybangers. The duo's mix brought the song into the top 20 of the German single charts. The top 100 were also reached in Austria and Switzerland. In February 2014, together with the Austrian rapper Godfrey Egbon, they released a cover version of the song No Limit , which originally came from 2 Unlimited . They also contributed remixes to Scotty's re-recording of the Pirates of the Caribbean soundtrack The Black Pearl and the TomorrowWorld anthem Ocarina by Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike in collaboration with Wolfpack .

Sony Music brought US R&B singer Jaicko Lawrence to the studio in January 2014 . This resulted in a collaboration with Carlprit and the Michael Mind Project , among others , after which the Bodybangers mixed the official version of the track More Than Enough created by Jaicko and Marc Korn . They also recorded the song Love Come Down with Lawrence and the rapper TomE, known for his vocal contribution to DJ Antoine's number one hits Bella Vita . As in his other music videos, Jaicko cannot be seen in this one. Another track with TomE followed with the track Stars in Miami , which was recorded in collaboration with Victoria Kern. It samples the song Crocett's Theme by Jan Hammer . At the same time, an instrumental piece called Are You Ready as well as a production by the duo for Victoria Kern and the rapper Menno were released. The song was entitled Weekend .

After the rather low success of the last singles, the duo finally decided to part with the record label Kontor Records. As the last record to be released through this label, they mixed a succession of their greatest hits, as did RIO and DJ Antoine . This was made available for download at the Kontor Summer Jam 2014 and achieved high placements in various German-speaking countries. A preview of their next single Like That was released just a few weeks after it was released . She was recorded with singer and rapper Menno. However, in contrast to their previous releases, this one does not have a big room sound, but the deephouse style that was successful at the time. At the same time, a cooperation with the Swiss singer-songwriter Maury , the singer of the worldwide hit track Ma Chérie and the US rapper Flo Rida appeared . The song was titled My Heart Goes Boom and was mixed in a big room style.

2015: genre change

In December 2014, the duo released the song Raise as a single. The release took place via the Asian record label "Moon Recordings" in order to enable worldwide publication. In contrast to their previous songs, Raise builds on the big room style created by DJs like Martin Garrix or Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike , with whom the duo has already worked. The track also has the influence of the Melbourne Bounce genre, which in this song is reminiscent of the songs Five Hours and Yee by the DJ and producer Deorro . The song was particularly successful on the Internet, including on music platforms such as YouTube and Soundcloud. A vocal version of the track entitled To the Club was released through Sony Music . The track is sung by Victoria Kern. At the same time, a song called Go was released with vocals by the German singer Linda Teodosiu . Go based on the classic, commercial Bodybangers style and a Future-house remix of the track Show Me Love singer Robin S .

Record label

After initially releasing their songs on the record label Gimme 5 and Scream and Shout Music , they were signed to the German dance label Kontor Records in 2011 thanks to the success of Bodytalk . Another contract followed in parallel with Ministry of Sound . Selected songs still appeared under Scream and Shout . The duo signed with Sony Music Entertainment in 2013. Nevertheless, selected songs were released on Kontor Records until 2014 , after which they separated completely in the summer. In December 2014 her first release appeared on Moon Recordings to market her singles worldwide. Whether further releases will appear on the label has not yet been confirmed.
