Welcome to DJ Antoine , also 2011 , is the ninth studio album by DJ Antoine . It consists of two or three CDs and was released on May 27, 2011.

background

DJ Antoine first announced in January 2011 that he would release an album on May 14, 2011. From April 2011, he uploaded videos of the press shop or announcements through commercials on his YouTube channel. The album was released in three different versions: the standard version, which consists of two CDs, a limited edition with three CDs and a deluxe box, which contains three CDs, special DJ Antoine sunglasses and five hand-signed postcards . In the case of several songs, the guest musicians or singers are not indicated on the track list. The Swiss singer Maury , who had already sung on earlier hits such as All We Need , Apologize or When The Rain Has Gone , is involved in a large number of songs , and was also involved in many tracks on this CD as a singer, songwriter and producer . The song Amanama [Money] is a new recording of the song Arabian Adventure 2 by Antoine from 2007, in which the Russian rapper Timati only contributed vocals and the chorus was given a new instrumental.

Description of the CDs

first CD ( track list)

The first CD is considered the actual album and consists exclusively of new songs, new remixes or previously released non-album singles. Various musicians, often not mentioned, are involved here. For all songs, DJ Antoine was supported by his studio partner and good friend Mad Mark on the instruments, production and mixing. There are also cover songs, such as Welcome to St. Tropez by Timati & BlueMarin.

second CD ( track list)

CD number two is the Swiss version of Welcome to DJ Antoine , 2011 . That is why it is also called 2011-DJ Antoines Club Anthems of the Year 2011. You can find the tracks on the first CD in extended remix form, merging into one another, almost like a DJ mix . Some tracks like Sunlight can be found as an instrumental version or like Ma Chérie as a remix. A few songs are included on this CD for the first time, which means they cannot be found on CD 1. Among them are I Feel or Gägenwart . In download portals such as Amazon or iTunes , it is only available as a 1:19 hour single track.

third CD ( track list)

The third CD is only included in the limited edition. It consists of a special DJ mix that contains selected important songs from his entire DJ career. Here, too, the tracks merge into one another. The radio versions were not used for this , but the extended versions of the songs. This is also only available in download portals as a 1:18 hour single track.

criticism

A reviewer from Rate Your Music rated the album positively, writing:

“[...] You can tell from his sound that it came through the house entrance at some point, but it also makes use of Eurodance through to pure (dance) pop. The first CD by Welcome to DJ Antoine offers nineteen mostly very catchy numbers in which he always surrounds himself with singers or rappers. It then regularly says' DJ Antoine vs. XY feat. YX 'or similar. The range of songs is musically so diverse that you could also be dealing with a hit compilation based on the motto 'The Best Of Dance Pop 2011'. Although this makes for variety, it doesn't exactly make it easier to identify with the artist. What I like best are the two numbers 'Bleu Infini' and 'Paris, Paris', in which French is sung instead of English. That just fits well and sounds really nice. Should he do it much more often, Antoine! The hit 'Welcome to St. Tropez' can be heard in two versions. On the other CD, the 'DJ Antoine Special DJ Mix' is waiting for inclined listeners and dancers. Here he gives us an acoustic insight into his digital witch kitchen with eighteen tracks. There are even more dominant basses, much more sound effects and sometimes longer instrumental passages for the dance floor, without exaggerating the 'hypnotic' effect (i.e. constant repetitions of certain passages). Everything is very danceable, but ultimately remains song-oriented. Overall, Welcome to DJ Antoine is a very commercial double album with no claim to hipness / coolness or cultural depth. It should be fun - and that's exactly what it usually does. "

successes

Within just a few hours, the album was number one on the German, Austrian and Swiss iTunes album charts . In Germany, it entered the official album charts at number 8 in the first week. In Austria it was booked at number 16 and in Switzerland the album reached the top of the album charts. In France, Antoine reached number 74 with the album. In addition, the CD was able to place itself in the German charts for over a year and it was also represented in Austria and Switzerland for a very long time. In the German album annual charts the album reached number 91 in 2011 and number 30 in 2012. In Austria, Welcome to DJ Antoine reached number 109 in 2011 and number 23 in 2012. In 2011 the album was number 14 in 2011 in Switzerland .

In May 2012, DJ Antoine in Germany was awarded a gold record for Welcome to DJ Antoine and Ma Chérie , each for 100,000 units sold . The time had come for Welcome to St. Tropez back in 2011. For this he even received platinum for more than 300,000 sales. Also in 2012, DJ Antoine was able to achieve platinum status in Switzerland for 2011 and triple platinum for Welcome to St. Tropez , as well as 4x platinum for Ma Chérie .

Welcome to DJ Antoine Remixed

Welcome to DJ Antoine Remixed was released on October 28, 2011 . This is the original release, just that all songs on the original album are in remix form. For example, Welcome to St. Tropez is not available as a “ Radio Edit ” but as a “Stereo Palma Remix”. There is also a DJ Antoine Deluxe Megamix . This is a 16-minute DJ mix in which, on many songs, an a cappella part of a song, for example I'm On You , was played over an instrumental of another track, for example Song to the Sea . That means, I'm On You a cappella was played on the Song to the Sea instrumental. Despite great demand, this mix was only available as a single track on individual mash-ups in download portals. The sales were added to the original release, so the album could not achieve its own chart placement.

Welcome to DJ Antoine (2k12 Deluxe Edition)

Another version of the album was released on July 2, 2012, which contains the most successful songs of the standard version such as Welcome to St. Tropez or Ma Chérie 2k12 , as well as some other great successes of his career such as Move On Baby . Sky Is the Limit was actually planned for 2012, but since it could not be completed until 2013, this 2k12 version of Welcome to DJ Antoine was released as a so-called gap filler for 2012 and thus replaced the DJ Antoine album for the year 2012. Sales of this CD were also counted towards the original Welcome to DJ Antoine version.

Welcome to St. Tropez

Welcome to St. Tropez was the first single from the album. It was released two months before the album on March 21, 2011. The music video was released on February 16, 2011 on the official YouTube channel of the record label Kontor Records . Originally the song was written in 2010 by Timati alone, together with BlueMarine. It had the same title and was sung in Russian. In the video you can see DJ Antoine and Timati performing several live. They are also shown at yachts, press conferences, interviews and many other points in their careers. In Germany, Welcome to St. Tropez rose to 79th place, 67th place in Austria and 42nd place in Switzerland. The track worked its way up week after week and finally reached a top five position in all three countries. 3rd place in Germany, 5th in Austria and 2nd in Switzerland. The song was also in the charts for over a year.

Sunlight

Single cover by Sunlight

Sunlight was selected as the album's second single and was released on May 29, 2011, two days after the album. The single was recorded by DJ Antoine together with the Belgian singer Tom Dice , who became known through the ESC 2010 . The official music video was released on September 16, 2011 on Kontor.TV . It starts with DJ Antoine, who comes from a club in St. Tropez , and Tom Dice, who is walking along a coast in Paris . He texts Antoine with the question “Ready for the party tonight?” (Ready for the party tonight?). Antoine reads them and a picture appears showing the way to Paris with several obstacles and a few stops. The points are:

  • Boat: He drives a boat halfway up a river with a young woman. There he jumps into the water with diving equipment and finally reappears at point two.
  • Cliff: DJ Antoine has to climb the cliff edge. Then he swings on the big rock and hikes to the edge of the forest where point three is waiting for him.
  • Car: He's requesting a taxi or a chauffeur. This drives him through the forest within a very short time. Antoine jumps out of the car and expects him on exactly four.
  • Helicopter: Antoine contacted a helicopter during sunset, which arrived a short time later. He hangs on the runner and climbs down a rope ladder at the destination. So the points are ticked off and he just has to go to the party.
  • Paris: DJ Antoine has arrived, flips over a car, runs to the meeting point, greets Tom Dice and together they go to their joint performance.

The song was only released as a single in Switzerland. In Germany and Austria it was only available for download as an “iTunes single” and as an album track. In the German single charts, the song rose to number 85 through numerous downloads and stayed in the charts for 4 weeks. In Austria, the song entered number 51 for a week. In Switzerland the song even reached the top 10 and was awarded gold.

Ma Chérie

Single cover by Ma Chérie

Ma Chérie was the third single release on October 28, 2011 as a new version. The Beat Shakers , a Serbian DJ duo who released the original Ma Chérie together with Alberto in 2009, were given as a feature . A first cover version by DJ Antoine was released as a single in Switzerland in 2010, but was re-recorded by Antoine and Mad Mark in 2011 and also released in Germany and Austria. A new music video was also released for this mix. This was uploaded by Kontor.TV parallel to the single release on October 28, 2011. It's about DJ Antoine and his search for his love. At the beginning of the video, he goes into a store and buys a bottle of Sky Vodka , a brand of his sponsors , looks at his watch and goes to a meeting in a pub. There he greets his friends and they play spin the bottle . The neck of the bottle points to a pretty lady across from him and she jumps up. Antoine also gets up and wants to hug her but suddenly the time stops and he looks around confused. Then a representation appears next to the woman on which, next to a red bar, the word "Bad" can be read. This means that it is not the perfect partner for him. Then time turns back and Antoine is back in the shop, completely confused. He pays for the bottle, looks at his watch, and goes to another casino meeting. He greets his friends again and they play a round of poker . Again the time stands still when he wants to congratulate a young woman and the image appears with the words "Bad". He's again confused at the cash register in the store. He pays a third time, goes to his friends in a restaurant. Again they play turning bottles and again time stands still and the word "bath" appears when he tried to hug a pretty woman. Annoyed, he is again at the cash register and now walks out of the shop without a bottle, along the street, but suddenly he stumbles over a bottle of Sky Vodka , which points to a young, pretty woman with the drink in her hand. A flashback shows how she buys the bottle when Antoine was already at the cash register. Another display appears, but this time the word “Perfect” is next to a green bar, this means that he has found the right one. DJ Antoine's original version reached the charts at number 21 in Switzerland and a little lower in Germany and Austria. Due to the new CD single release of the remix version in 2011, the single was able to climb even higher and finally into the top 10 of the single charts of the entire German-speaking area of Europe. In addition, Ma Chérie is behind DJ Ötzi's Ein Stern in Switzerland, in second place among the most successful songs of all time. 34th place in Germany and 8th place in Austria.

I'm on you

I'm On You single cover

I'm On You was released as the fourth single. It was released as a single on February 10, 2012. Timati and P. Diddy with his band Dirty Money will be performing as guest musicians . The original song by Timati, P. Diddy and Dirty Money dates back to 2010 alone. The official music video was uploaded on January 21, 2012 to the official Kontor Records YouTube channel. In the video you can see Timati with his girlfriend waiting at a helicopter landing site. Then Diddy and his two assistants (Dirty Money) come in a helicopter and come to a stop at Timati's landing site. They greet each other and P. Diddy gives them an assignment in which they are supposed to sneak into a millionaire's party and clear out his safe without being noticed. Then his villa is supposed to be blown up and the evidence destroyed. The plan goes ahead, but Timati and his girlfriend run away with the money and take off with his yacht. But the captain is on Diddy's side and flees from the ship. So Timati and his girlfriend are alone at sea. The end is open and so it is not clear how it will continue. Also I'm On You stormed the charts in no time. In Germany, the top position was only 50th, but the single was able to stay in the charts for 10 weeks. In addition, the song was able to reach the Swiss charts.

Shake 3x

Single cover by Shake 3x

Shake 3x was the fifth single from the album. It was released on March 16, 2012. Rene Rodrigezz and MC Yankoo are given as features . The song is a remix of the song Sexy Shake by Rodrigezz and Yankoo, also from 2011. The official music video was uploaded on March 15, 2012 to the official Kontor Records YouTube channel. At the beginning of the video you see a man who is still at the company after his work is over, goes to the computer and starts the song Shake 3x there . The computer screen zooms in to reveal a sofa with Rodrigezz and Yankoo sitting on it. Several pretty women can be seen on the armrest. Antoine is in the background at a DJ desk. In another scene, Rene Rodrigezz can also be seen at the mixer. Then the instrumental parts begin, a loud clatter drowns out the beat. Startled, MC Yankoo turns to one side. Something fragile is open next to him. He looks up in horror. As if hypnotized by the music, an employee responsible for the shoot dances silly on the ladder. All other employees too. The director, microphone holder and cameraman move their hips to the beat. This happens throughout the video. Other people are always shown moving their hips to the beat. In addition, a small man is shown trying to get to the microphone and jumping up to get to it. But the person responsible for it keeps it higher and higher. In addition, towards the end an old man with a white beard and hair is shown behind the mixer. Then the video ends and the man from the office is shown again as he too, moving his hips to the beat in a daze. Shortly before the end, a clock shaking to the beat is shown. The song was already able to enter the Austrian charts as an album track. There he reached number 31st. In Germany, Shake got 3x at number 63.

Broadway

Broadway single cover

Broadway was the sixth and final single from the album. It was released on September 14, 2012. The vocals were sung by Maurizio Pozzi alias Maury. However, only Mad Mark was specified as a feature. The music video was released two days before the single was released. A new recording, a 2K12 version, was used as a single version . There was no official video shoot, as it was only edited from live performances by Antoine. It starts with an airplane and a motorboat in which DJ Antoine is sitting. Then some calm scenes from various DJ Antoine concerts are shown. At the beginning of the beat the audience is shown freaking out. There are several changes of scene. It ends with Antoine dropping himself into a pool with a camera. It was the single that earned the least success. It only reached the German charts and was 94 there for two weeks.

iTunes singles

On August 26th, several songs from the album were released as one-track single on iTunes . In other words, the title was released from the album as a single track on iTunes for download.
