Break My Stride is a song by Matthew Wilder in 1983, which was written by Matthew Wilder and Greg Prestopino.

History and publication

The song was the only success on his album I Don't Speak the Language , the one-hit wonder reached number 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and number 4 in the UK Top 40 in 1984.

Although Break My Stride Wilders only success was, it managed its subsequent Single The Kid's American from the album Bouncing Of The Wall at No. 28 in the USA .

The cooperation between Wilders and Prestopinos appeared in several versions and provided a basis for hip-hop tracks. In 1997, Puff Daddys sampled the song for his single Can't Nobody Hold Me Down .

In Great Britain the song was heard in an advertisement for the Alpro company . The song will also be used in 2015 in German TV advertising by Tassimo .

Wilder was involved in the production of the 2004 cover of Blue Lagoon.

In Germany and Austria, the cover versions of Unique 2 and Blue Lagoon were more successful than the original by Matthew Wilder.
