Jacques Lizot

Jacques Lizot (born February 11, 1938 in Montreuil ) is a French anthropologist , ethnologist and linguist .

Life

Lizot was a pupil of Claude Lévi-Strauss . Between 1968 and 1992 he lived with the Yanomami . When he felt like a “foreigner” in his home country France after his return in 1993, he decided to shift his focus from anthropology to linguistics and studied the Arabic language .

In Patrick Tierney's book Darkness in El Dorado , published in 2000, researchers Napoleon Chagnon , James V. Neel , Kenneth Good and Lizot are attacked and it is alleged that Jacques Lizot sexually abused boys. 2004 these charges were for studies of the American Anthropological Association presented as wrong (AAA), but in 2010 José Padilhas film Abuse in the jungle ( Secrets of the Tribe repeated) of affected Yanomami.

In 2004, Lizot published a dictionary on the Yanomami language.
