Current Anthropology is an anthropological journal founded in 1957 by the anthropologist Sol Tax , which has been published by the University of Chicago Press since 1959 with the financial support of the Wenner-Gren Foundation for Anthropological Research . Its thematic core area extends beyond the narrower field of anthropology, which deals with humans, because primate research is also thematically included. In addition, ethnological and ethnohistorical, but also archaeological and prehistoric , folklore and linguistic issues are discussed.
The Current Applications from the same publisher function as an open access section in the sense of a bridge between research in the narrower sense and the applied sciences and everyday history .
