Hans Joachim Bernet

Hans Joachim Bernet (also Johann Joachim Bernet ; * December 21, 1725 in St. Gallen ; † August 11, 1809 ibid) was a mayor of St. Gallen ( Switzerland ).

Life

Hans Joachim Bernet was born as the son of Caspar Bernet (* November 20, 1668; † November 6, 1742), weaver and sub-mayor, and his wife Anna Hertsch (* 1602; † 1669), a daughter of Joachim Herzog called Hertsch . His half-brother was Caspar Bernet (born January 9, 1698 in St. Gallen; † September 29, 1766 there), Mayor of St. Gallen.

He held numerous offices in the city republic of St. Gallen and was represented in its guilds and judges. In 1792 he was a delegate to the Diet . From 1785 to 1794 he was mayor of St. Gallen and replaced Julius Hieronymus Zollikofer and Hans Joachim Steinmann every three years .

In 1787 he established the family legacy .

Hans Joachim Bernet was married to Clara, daughter of Daniel Ehrenzeller, trimmers and weaver.
