Hans Joachim Steinmann (politician, 1703)

Hans Joachim Steinmann (born November 2, 1703 in St. Gallen ; † January 10, 1792 ibid) was a mayor of St. Gallen ( Switzerland ).

Life

Hans Joachim Steinmann was born as the son of the weaver Caspar Steinmann and his wife Anna. Bernet born. His grandson of the same name, Hans Joachim Steinmann , later also became mayor of St. Gallen.

As a weaver and manufacturer, he was a member of the weavers 'guild of St. Gallen and was Elfer (board member) of the weavers' guild from 1748 to 1754, followed by his election as a guild master until 1758 and then his election as councilor until 1760.

In the period from 1760 to 1792 he was mayor , former mayor and bailiff every three years ; he alternated with Daniel Högger (1706–1784) (until 1765), Heinrich Schlumpf (1702–1783) (until 1783) Julius Hieronymus Zollikofer and Hans Joachim Bernet (1725–1809) (until 1793).

In 1731 he married Weibratha Zörnlin, daughter of the Council Substitute (third highest office in the State Chancellery after the town clerk and the council clerk) Hans Jacob Zörnlin. In 1769 he married Sara, daughter of the pharmacist Hermann Kromm, who was also a 911 and quartermaster .
