Tillmann Rudolf Uhrmacher (* May 14, 1967 - May 30, 2011 ) was a German DJ , music producer and radio host in the field of electronic dance music .

biography

Uhrmacher achieved his first musical success as a member of the band Mysterious Art, founded in 1988 . The first single Das Omen became a number one hit in Germany and sold over 400,000 times. The song was in the German sales charts for a total of 29 weeks and was the second most successful single of the year. The follow-up single also made it into the Top 10. The band appeared in 1990 as the opening act on Madonna's Blond Ambition World Tour .

In June 1990 Uhrmacher started the radio show MaxiMal . This was broadcast weekly on Saturday evenings on RPR1 . In 1995 the program was moved to Friday evening and the broadcasting time was extended. Since January 26, 2001, MaxiMal has been broadcast on Fridays on sunshine live and no longer RPR1 and stayed there without major interruptions until March 18, 2011. On this day, Uhrmacher presented his last MaxiMal program. At that time it was the oldest radio show for electronic music on German radio. In the following months, sunshine live broadcast a few MaxiMal programs, but Uhrmacher was always represented in these programs.

In 1994 he received an entry in the Guinness Book of Records for 80 hours of non-stop moderation. In addition, Uhrmacher also produced a compilation series called MaxiMal In The Mix . The tenth edition was last published in April 2009.

In 1999 Uhrmacher released his first solo single Bassfly . He then produced the two singles Autumn and Spring Time together with Mauro Picotto under the pseudonym Lava . The 2001 released single On the Run reached number 16 in the UK singles charts .

Uhrmacher also had appearances at smaller and larger festivals in the field of electronic music. Since 1999 he has had at least one appearance on one of the main stages at Nature One every year and in a few years he had additional appearances there on smaller stages, and from there he also moderated the live broadcasts for Sunshine Live. A smaller appearance at Nature One 2011 was planned.

On June 8, 2011, Watchmaker's family announced that he was found dead in his home. May 30, 2011 was announced as the death date.
