DJ Taucher (* 20th February 1966 in Bischofsheim ; bourgeois Ralph Armand Beck ) is a German Trance - DJ and music producer . He is known for his eccentric appearances and commercial success. The stage name came into being in 1992, when he always hung up in a diving suit at the beginning of his career and thus made his appearance unmistakable. Beck lives near Mainz .

Scene contact

Before the former contract soldier Beck (he describes himself as a hobby psychologist) stepped behind the turntables in 1992, he organized his own parties. He distributed flyers , pasted posters and provided new impulses in the celebration centers of the Rhine-Main area with unusual decoration ideas , video animations , screen projections and unusual going out times. From all over Germany, for example, the then traveled Raver Sundays to Mainz to participate in diver "Techno breakfast". In order to get to the Frankfurt cult techno disco Omen , he put on a complete diving gear and soon after began to hang up himself for the first time.

Up to ten times in the evening he changed his outfit at the parties he organized. Sometimes in a diving suit, another set in a wedding dress, with fantasy clothing or in a skydiver costume. When the doping scandal at the Tour de France reached its climax in 1998 , he hung up in a jersey from the Festina team at the Dorian Gray . Some of his stations as a party organizer were the M in Mainz, the Wartburg in Wiesbaden, the OXO in Taunusstein and the Music Hall in Frankfurt.

producer

Taucher produces his own pieces together with Torsten Stenzel , whom he also met in 1992. Torsten Stenzel became known through the single NUKE - Nana , which took top positions in the European charts. Diver's first own Maxi Atlantis became an underground rave anthem in 1993. With the world-famous Taucher remix for the single Ayla , Taucher and Stenzel also celebrated their commercial breakthrough as a trance remix duo in 1995. In the period that followed, the two received remixes from Scooter , Faithless , Robert Miles , Cherrymoon Trax , Culture Beat and similar international cult projects. Taucher later published the material as a sampler in two double compilations under the title Life Is a Remix .

Since October 2007 he has been producing the program Adult Music for the radio station Radio Aktiv-FM - a program in which he celebrates "adult ('adult") electronic music, away from mainstream-compatible trance.

General

Taucher is booked worldwide and has already played at all relevant major events, especially all love parades and larger raves in the techno scene. He tours regularly through Asia , Australia and South America and lives on a converted farm near Mainz .

Parts of the raver community accuse him of his strong eccentricity, which he made known in the early years. This has to do with the image of trance music, which in its basic message seems open and friendly. Diver's external impact is in contrast to this. Since Taucher, unlike many of his well-known German colleagues, never went bankrupt economically with one of his production companies and always makes sure that his sets and productions are worthwhile, psychedelic trancers from the Goa trance camp in particular generally consider him too commercial aligned. His fan base is represented worldwide, he markets himself and, unlike in the industry, does not commission a booking agency .

Technology when hanging up

DJ Taucher was one of the first DJs to turn his back on turntables and turn to the new possibilities of digital spinning. He uses the well-known DJ software Traktor and an S4 from Native Instruments as a hardware mixer as well as a MacBook Pro .

Self-quotations

  • "I'm an actor, but I don't act."
  • "Life is a remix."
  • "Another 2 minutes?"
