The MacBook Pro (abbreviated sometimes unofficially as MBP ) is a Macintosh - Notebook of the company Apple . The range was introduced by Steve Jobs on January 10, 2006 at the Macworld Expo . The new laptops replaced the 15- and 17- inch models of the PowerBook G4 . The design is based on the design of the G4 PowerBooks developed by Jonathan Ive . In 2005 Apple announced that it would switch from PowerPC processors to Intel CPUs . The MacBook Pro marked the first mobile Mac to feature an Intel processor, the Core Duo .

In contrast to the MacBook and MacBook Air , the MacBook Pro is also aimed at professional users, which is underlined by the possibility of a 16-inch screen and, in this model, its own graphics card . It represents the upper end of the MacBook range.

First generation

Early 2006

The first generation of the MacBook Pro was presented by Steve Jobs at the Macworld Expo on January 10, 2006 and was available in stores from April 2006 with a screen diagonal of 15.4 ". On April 24, 2006 a model with a 17 ″ screen was added.

After the move to Intel announced in 2006, the MacBook Pro is the first Macintosh with an Intel CPU, in this case Core Duo processors . The introductory price of the 15.4 ″ MacBook Pro with 1.83 GHz processor was 2099 € / 2999 CHF, that of the 17 ″ MacBook Pro was 2599 € / 3699 CHF. Shortly afterwards, it was delivered with a faster processor speed of 2.0 or 2.16 GHz at no extra charge.

The screens have also seen major changes . They are in widescreen format and with 300 cd / m² almost achieve  the brightness of Apple Cinema Displays . A “glossy” version of the screen was available for both sizes.

Another innovation is the MagSafe charging connection: the power cord is no longer held mechanically in the notebook with its plug, but with a magnet. If you accidentally get stuck on the power cable, all you have to do is pull the contact plug without dragging the computer or damaging the plug or socket. While the 15.4 ″ model has 2 USB ports, the notebook with a 17 ″ screen has three USB ports and the FireWire 800 interface that was only installed in the smaller model from October 2006 . A DVI-to-VGA adapter was included in the scope of delivery for connecting an external monitor. A microphone and two speakers are built in. Digital audio devices can be connected via the ports. In the middle of the upper screen frame is an iSight camera (with 640 × 480 pixels resolution).

The previously common PC card or PCMCIA slot was converted to the ExpressCard / 34 slot with the MBP . There are also Bluetooth  2.1 , Wi-Fi 4, a hard disk with Sudden Motion Sensor ( motion sensor ) and an infrared sensor for the Apple Remote . In the 15.4 ″ model, the DVD burner had no double-layer capability (only with the 17-inch models) and only four times the burning speed.

The keyboard is optionally backlit depending on the ambient brightness. The screen also adapts to the ambient brightness thanks to the light sensors hidden in the side speakers.

The small, green, glowing status display for the iSight camera can serve as a simple visual distinguishing feature of the first versions : it has been installed behind the surface of the display frame since October 2006 and cannot be seen when switched off. In the previous model, the green light-emitting diode is clearly visible in the housing.

Late 2006

On October 24, 2006, the improved successor version of the MacBook Pro was presented. Instead of the Core Duo, Core 2 Duo processors were used. In addition, the 15 ″ model now also has a FireWire 800 interface. The RAM has been doubled and the hard disk space has also increased.

Mid 2007

The 15.4 ″ versions now have a screen with LED backlight. The 17-inch screen with a resolution of 1920 × 1200 pixels continued to use the previously common cathode tube (CCFL). The advantages of LED lighting are lower power consumption, better color rendering and improved environmental compatibility. The notebooks had a faster graphics chip ( Nvidia Geforce 8600M GT) and a faster Intel chipset.

Late 2007

From November 1, 2007, new processors of the new Santa Rosa generation could be optionally configured. The optional hard drive configurations have also been revised.

Early 2008

These revised MacBook Pros were equipped with the new Penryn Intel chips in 45 nm design. This brought 6 MB cache memory, a higher clock frequency and the new SSE4 instruction set with it. In addition, the new processors consume less energy than their predecessors and are therefore better suited for mobile use. The VRAM of the graphics chips has been doubled compared to the previous models.

In these models, the hard drives have been enlarged. The screen of the 17-inch MacBook Pro could now be optionally ordered with a resolution of 1920 × 1200 pixels and LED backlighting, which increased the specified battery life by half an hour to five hours.

The trackpad with multi-touch functionality was also new . This makes it possible to control the MacBook Pro with gestures , similar to the iPhone .

The prices have been reduced significantly compared to the predecessor.

Late 2008

With the introduction of the unibody design at the end of 2008, the 15.4 ″ version was discontinued. The 17 ″ model, for which there was still no successor, was resold in the old design and with fewer configuration options. An SSD hard drive was optionally available for the first time.

With the second generation, the design was revised.

The housing is made from one piece of aluminum ( milled , drilled and lasered ). Apple calls this construction a unibody . A new large-format glass trackpad does not require a separate button, because the entire trackpad is the button (similar to the click wheel on the iPod ). It supports multi-touch gestures with up to four fingers. It no longer uses a button to open it, but a notch in the housing where the display is lifted. This was already known from the MacBook Air and was also used in the following generations.

To the glossy - LCD screen with LED is a black frame backlight. A sheet of glass covers the entire front.

A new generation of graphics cards is being introduced in these models. For the first time, SSDs are installed at an additional cost , which are much faster than conventional hard disk drives . This means that tasks such as starting up the computer or opening programs are completed faster and with fewer delays. The writing speed is also faster, which means that complex tasks such as exporting videos can be completed much faster.

At the same time a smaller 13 ″ version was introduced, which takes over many of the features of the larger model, but was only called "MacBook". The updated edition for WWDC 2009 was called “MacBook Pro”.

The cheapest version of the 15 ″ model was sold until mid-2009. The two higher priced models were replaced in early 2009 by those with faster processors.

Early 2009: 15 ″, 17 ″

The more expensive versions of the MacBook Pro 15 ″ have got more powerful processors. In addition, a 17 ″ model was introduced, which for the first time has a permanently installed battery. It can be ordered with an anti-glare display on request. Like the previous models and the MacBook Air , this display has an aluminum frame.

Mid-2009

MacBook Pro 13-inch

At the WWDC on June 9, 2009, Apple presented an updated version. The battery is now screwed internally in all models. The service life is given as around 1000 cycles. The 15 ″ device with an anti-reflective screen was now also available for a surcharge.

The 13 ″ aluminum MacBook was replaced by the MacBook Pro 13 ″, which now also has a FireWire 800 connection. Instead of the express card slot, the two smaller models have built-in an SD card reader . Only the 17 ″ model retains the Express Card slot.

The processors are a bit faster.

Mid 2010

Processors from the new Intel Core i series are installed in the 15 ″ and 17 ″ models . The 13 ″ MacBook Pro has slightly faster processors, but they still belong to the Core 2 Duo generation. The battery life increased by three hours for the 13 "device, one to two hours for the 15" device, and up to an hour for the 17 "device. The MagSafe charging cable is now angled backwards.

The graphics processors were replaced by new Nvidia chips (320M or GT 330M) and the integrated graphics units of the Intel processors. A higher screen resolution of 1680 × 1050 pixels (glossy or matt) was optionally available for the 15 ″ model. The multi-touch trackpad now supports “ scrolling with lag” throughout the system , which means that the scrolling process does not end abruptly, but instead, as with the iPhone or the Magic Mouse, becomes increasingly slower until it comes to a standstill.

The Mini-DisplayPort now also carries the audio signal. With an adapter to HDMI , picture and sound can be transmitted to televisions or projectors via a single cable .

Early 2011

In this version, Intel Core i5 or i7 processors of the Sandy Bridge micro-architecture were used. In the 15 ″ and 17 ″ models, the number of cores has been doubled to 4. The integrated Intel HD Graphics 3000 was used in all models; The 15 "/ 17" models also have a dedicated graphics card from AMD .

The battery runtimes were given as seven hours due to more realistic measurement methods, but the same runtimes should be achieved as with the older models. The new FaceTime HD camera now supports the HD resolution of 720p (1280 × 720 pixels).

The Mini-DisplayPort has been replaced by a more functional Thunderbolt connector , which has the same shape on the outside and also works with older cables and adapters. There were 2 x 8 GB of memory instead of a maximum of 8 GB of RAM be used. The clock rate was increased from 1066 MHz to 1333 MHz.

Late 2011

The processors are clocked slightly higher. The equipment of the graphics cards has been improved. The hard drive options have also been improved on the 13 ″ model . All components are still based on the previous technology.

These models support AirPlay for the first time .

From this model onwards, MacBooks officially only support Mac OS 10.7 (Lion) and higher. Contrary to the manufacturer's information, Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) can still be used on this model due to the great similarities to the hardware from the beginning of 2011 from version 10.6.7.

Mid 2012: 13 ″, 15 ″

Inner workings of the 13 ″ model

These improved models were introduced at the same time as the third generation. They were a cheaper alternative and still offered older connections. Their processors have also been updated to the Ivy Bridge architecture. The USB interfaces now support USB 3.0 . All 2012 MacBook Pros have an Intel HD Graphics 4000 graphics unit. The 15 ″ devices also have an NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M graphics card . The weakest MacBook Pro with 13 ″ has an Intel Core i5 processor. All other models are equipped with an Intel Core i7 processor.

The 17 ″ version is not applicable.

The 13 ″ model was sold until the fourth generation was introduced in October 2016. At the beginning, the base price was € 1,249. At the end of 2013 the price was reduced to € 1199 and in mid-2014 to € 1099. From the beginning of 2015 until it was discontinued, it cost € 1199 again.

Problems

The 15 "and 17" models sold between February 2011 and December 2013 may experience video playback issues. Apple offers a repair program for this problem. It is valid up to 4 years after the date of purchase.

The third generation was presented by Phil Schiller on June 11, 2012 at WWDC in the form of the 15-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display . At the same time, the models without a retina display with improved technology were sold on. The 13-inch model followed on October 23.

While the predecessors still used TN panels, the retina displays work with IPS technology and offer four times the resolution, while at the same time contrasts and color reproduction have been improved and reflections have been reduced by eliminating the glass pane.

All MacBook Pro from 2012 have Intel processors of the Ivy Bridge generation and an Intel HD Graphics 4000 graphics unit. The 15 ″ devices also have an NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M graphics card which has 1GB video memory (GDDR5) and can provide similar performance to a GTX 660M with a core clock of 900Mhz. The weakest MacBook Pro with 13 ″ has an Intel Core i5 processor. All other models are equipped with an Intel Core i7 processor. The USB interfaces now support USB 3.0 .

The 15 ″ Retina MacBook Pro is 25% flatter and lighter.

The devices are offered exclusively with flash memory , which was initially based on the SATA standard and optionally had 256, 512 or 768 GB storage space. The main memory is based on the more economical DDR3L technology instead of DDR3 and now offers 8GB in the entry-level configuration. It is firmly soldered and cannot be expanded, in contrast to the plugged-in flash SSD memory for which there are replacement modules on the free market.

Connections for Ethernet network cables and FireWire are omitted, optical drives are no longer built in ( Thunderbolt adapters for Gigabit Ethernet and FireWire as well as an external optical drive are offered), an HDMI and a second Thunderbolt connection are now installed. MagSafe 2, which is flatter and longer, is used as the power connection . Older MagSafe power supplies can be used with a separately available adapter.

The devices have an ambient light sensor that enables automatic control of the screen brightness and keyboard lighting. In addition, the speakers, microphones and the cooling system have been improved.

beginning 2013

All processors clock 0.1 GHz faster. It is more important that the prices have been reduced across the board:

  • The 13 ″ Retina version with 128 GB of hard disk space now costs € 1499 (previously € 1749).
  • The 13 ″ Retina version with 256 GB of hard disk space now costs € 1699 (previously € 2049).
  • The 15 ″ Retina version with 256 GB of hard disk space now costs € 2199 (previously € 2279).

The built-to-order options for larger hard drives are also cheaper.

the end of 2013

In contrast to the models from the beginning of 2013, there were more profound changes at the end of 2013. This includes the use of the new Haswell processors from Intel. The 13 ″ model is now 1 mm thinner (previously 19 mm, now 18 mm) and therefore around 50 g lighter (previously 1.62 kg, now 1.57 kg). Otherwise the design is unchanged. The integrated Intel Iris graphics chip is used in the 13 ″ models and the integrated Iris Pro graphics chip is used in the 15 ″ models. An additional NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M with 2 GB of VRAM can be ordered as an option for the 15 ″ model . The battery life has been extended by two (13 ") and one hour (15") on both models.

In Germany, prices have been reduced by € 200 compared to the predecessor:

  • 13 ″ with Retina: € 1299 to € 1799
  • 15 ″ with Retina: 1999 € to 2599 €

in the middle of 2014

All 13 ″ models now have 8 GB DDR3L RAM and can optionally be configured with 16 GB. The 15 ″ models are now fully equipped with 16 GB DDR3L RAM. The clock rate of the processors was increased by 0.2 GHz each ( Haswell refresh ).

Price adjustments:

  • The 15 ″ version with 512 GB of hard disk space now costs € 2499 (previously € 2599).
  • In Switzerland, prices were reduced across the board:
    • 13 ″ with retina: 1399 to 1949 CHF (previously 1449 to 1999 CHF)
    • 15 ″ with Retina: 2149 to 2699 CHF (previously 2249 to 2899 CHF).

Beginning of 2015: 13 ", mid-2015: 15"

The so-called “ Force Touch Trackpad” was adopted from the new MacBook . In addition, Intel processors of the Broadwell generation were used in the 13 ″ model . The clock rates of the processors in the 15 ″ models were slightly increased, but due to delivery problems on the part of Intel, older Haswell processors were still installed. Instead of DDR3L RAM, every MacBook Pro from 2015 offers LP DDR3 RAM, which is even more economical. The clock rate of the 13 "model has been increased from 1600 MHz to 1866 MHz, which is not the case with the 15" model. The dedicated graphics card (Radeon M370X) is no longer supplied by Nvidia , but by AMD and again offers 2GB GDDR5 video memory. With this, 5K displays can now also be controlled with 60Hz for the first time. The built-in flash-based SSD storage is now twice as fast. The battery life was increased by an additional hour. Due to the larger batteries, the devices are slightly heavier.

The prices were increased due to the exchange rate in Germany and Austria:

  • The 13 ″ version with 128 GB of hard disk space now costs € 1449 (previously € 1299).
  • The 13 ″ version with 256 GB hard disk space now costs € 1649 (previously € 1499).
  • The 13 ″ version with 512 GB of hard disk space now costs 1999 € (previously 1799 €).
  • The 15 ″ version with 256 GB of hard disk space now costs € 2249 (previously € 1999).
  • The 15 ″ version with 512 GB of hard disk space now costs € 2799 (previously € 2499).

The 15 ″ version in the entry-level configuration (with iGPU) was sold until July 12, 2018 and discontinued together with the introduction of new Touch Bar models.

Problems

The peeling of the anti-reflective coating became known as the "Staingate".

On all MacBook Pros of the third (but also the subsequent fourth) generation, the anti-reflective coating can peel off during use . In September 2016, Apple started a repair program that applies to devices up to 3 years after the date of purchase. In November 2017 the program was extended to 4 years.

The 15 ″ models sold through December 2013 may experience video playback issues. Apple offers a repair program for this problem. It is valid up to 4 years after the date of purchase.

In June 2019, a recall campaign for the 15 ″ model from mid-2015 was started because the battery can overheat and catch fire. This mainly affects devices that were sold between September 2015 and February 2017.

Fourth generation (Touch Bar)

2016

At the keynote on October 27, 2016, three new models of the MacBook Pro were presented. The most conspicuous innovation of the two better equipped models is the customizable OLED bar "Touch Bar" with Touch ID . On the other hand, the introduction of the "butterfly" keyboard, as it is known from the MacBook , is uniform here in the second generation. Intel Skylake processors are installed in all models . Compared to its predecessor, the force-touch trackpad is 46% larger on the 13 "model and twice as large on the 15" model. The display is 25% brighter (500  cd / m² ) than before. With the P3 color space, it can display more colors and the contrast has also been increased. The memory now has a read speed of 3.2 GB per second and a write speed of 2.2 GB per second. The speakers have also been improved, with the holes on the side of the keyboard on the 13 "model being used primarily for decorative purposes, while the speakers on the 15" model are located behind them. Both models are lighter, thinner and have a smaller housing with the same display size, whereby the 13 "model with 14.9 mm is a little thinner than the 15.5 mm high 15" model. In addition to the previous silver, it is now also available in space gray. With the new generation, many of the previous connections have been removed, including older versions such as Thunderbolt 2 and USB A, but also HDMI , the magnetic charging connector MagSafe 2 and the SD card slot. The logo on the back is no longer illuminated, but consists of metal and is color-matched to the device. The battery can be charged via one of the Thunderbolt ports. The scope of delivery has also been reduced. There is no longer an extension cable or microfiber cloth included. There is no longer any possibility of winding the cable on the power supply unit. The charging cable and power pack can now be used independently of each other. By using the USB-C standard, the MacBook Pro can now also be charged via a power bank , for example .

2017

An improved version was presented on June 5, 2017 at WWDC. The biggest change is the seventh generation Core i processors. Unofficially, minor problems are also said to have been resolved, for example an improved keyboard should prevent the keys from occasionally jamming as in the previous generation.

The 15 ″ models received new, better equipped graphics cards (the first number identifies the generation, the other two the equipment):

  • Radeon Pro 555 (previously 450) in the base model
  • Radeon Pro 560 (previously 455) on the 512 GB model

The 13 ″ model with 2 connections is now available with 128 GB of flash memory for € 1499. The price of some variants has been increased:

  • The 256 GB version of the 13 ″ model with 2 connections now costs € 1749 (previously € 1699).
    • Switzerland: 1729 CHF (previously 1699 CHF).
  • The 512 GB version of the 13 ″ model with 4 connections now costs € 2249 (previously € 2199).

  • The 256 GB version of the 15 ″ model now costs € 2799 (previously € 2699).
    • Switzerland: still CHF 2699.
  • The 512 GB version of the 15 ″ model now costs € 3299 (previously € 3199).
    • Switzerland: CHF 3199 (previously CHF 3149).

2018: 13 ″ with 4 connections, 15 ″

A revised edition was published on July 12, 2018 without a separate press conference. The 13 ″ models without a touch bar remained unchanged. On this occasion, the 15 ″ MacBook Pro from 2015 was discontinued, which was still sold until then.

The most important innovations include the introduction of 8th generation Intel Core processors, known as Coffee Lake , and a newly revised keyboard that uses the third generation “butterfly” mechanism. The new processors contain two more cores than their predecessors. This is the first time that the 13 ″ model has more cores, while the number of cores was last increased in 2011 for the 15 ″ model. According to Apple, the new keyboard is quieter when typing, but it was not officially developed with the aim of solving the reliability problems that persisted with the 2016 and 2017 models. When disassembling the device, iFixit found out that this effect is achieved by using a silicone seal, which could also improve reliability.

Furthermore, all new MacBooks receive the true-tone technology known from the iPad Pro , in which the colors of the display adapt to the ambient light. The battery of both devices has been enlarged. The speakers have been redesigned. Both versions are slightly thinner than their predecessors. As with the 1st generation iMac Pro, the new MacBook Pro will be equipped with an Apple T2 coprocessor. This controls the startup process and adds further security features, takes care of the connection of the camera, controls access to the SSD and, if necessary, its encryption, controls the system management controller (SMC), controls the connection to the audio controller and is responsible for the secure storage of the data from the fingerprint sensor. In addition, the T2 coprocessor enables Siri to be activated with the words "Hey Siri" without pressing a button. The new MacBook Pro also support Bluetooth 5.0. The 15 ″ version now uses DDR4 memory instead of LPDDR3 , which means that it can optionally be expanded to 32 GB. However, this technology consumes more electricity. Both models can be ordered with a maximum of twice as much flash memory as before. The 15 ″ model receives new, dedicated AMD graphics cards, which are clocked a little higher and have more memory in the basic configuration.

Since the end of November 2018, the 15 ″ model with 512 GB flash memory has been available for an additional charge with Radeon Pro Vega graphics cards .

On March 20, 2019, the prices of various higher optional equipment were lowered.

2019

May

New models with 4 connections were presented on May 21, 2019.

A new version of the butterfly keyboard is used, which does not have its own generation number, but is the fifth edition after the first, second, updated second and third generation. It uses different materials, which is another attempt to address the persistent reliability issues.

The 13 ″ models have slightly improved processors with a base clock rate of 0.1 GHz. The maximum clock rates in the Turbo Boost have increased by more than 0.1 GHz in some cases, but overall the processors are not a fundamental innovation due to the same Coffee Lake architecture of the 8th generation.

The 15 ″ models now use Intel Core i processors of the 9th generation. The variant for 2799 € contains a Core i9, while the predecessor got a Core i7 for this price. It's also the first MacBook with an 8-core processor.

July

On July 9, 2019, the 13 ″ model with 2 connections was updated. The innovations include the Touch Bar with Touch ID , which was previously reserved for the higher-priced models. As a result, it receives the T2 coprocessor instead of a T1. In addition, 8th generation Intel Core i processors with 4 instead of 2 cores and a better graphics processor are installed. The displays support True Tone. The battery has been reduced a little compared to its predecessor. As a result, the differences to the model with 4 connections, in addition to the different processor options, are limited to the fewer connections and the slightly higher battery capacity in the cheaper model.

On the same day, the prices for SSD upgrades were reduced for the rest of the Macs.

Furthermore, the prices of the MacBook Pro 15 ″ in Germany and Austria have been reduced:

  • The 256 GB version of the 15 ″ model now costs € 2699 (previously € 2799).
  • The 512 GB version of the 15 ″ model now costs € 3199 (previously € 3299).

Problems

The new butterfly keyboard could lead to various problems. Most devastatingly, the keys can be blocked by dirt and dust particles. With canned air , the problem sometimes was not always correct. Since its introduction in the MacBook 2015, the keyboard has been improved with every revision, which is why there are already four different versions. After several petitions and class actions, Apple provided an exchange program for all MacBooks with a butterfly keyboard from model years 2015 to 2017. With the release of the MacBook Pro 2019, both the 2018 and 2019 models were added to this program. The model with 2 Thunderbolt connections from 2019 has also been included in the range since publication.

Users of the first models with a Touch Bar complained about a crack of unknown origin. Affected models were repaired or replaced by Apple within the warranty period. In January 2019 it became known that the ribbon cable installed in the MacBook Pro with Touch Bar from 2016 to connect the Retina display to the display controller is too short and too thin, which can lead to cable breaks and display damage in normal everyday use. To solve this problem, the entire display unit must be replaced. A free repair program was made available by Apple on May 21, 2019.

The 2018 MacBook Pro, especially the Core i9 variant, heated up a lot under load according to initial reports and was therefore able to complete tasks more slowly than its predecessor. Large fluctuations in the processor clock were symptomatic, which, according to Apple, is due to a software problem and which has been fixed with a supplementary update for macOS 10.13 .6 especially for this model.

In the 2018 model, Apple uses the Apple T2 coprocessor, which is similar to the ARM- based Apple A10 Fusion and performs various lighter tasks and is supposed to provide more security. It was used in the iMac Pro and Mac mini in 2017 and in the MacBook Air in 2018. However, this caused various software-related problems, such as repeated reboots (problem can be traced back to kernel panic ), audio problems and the prevention of repairs by third parties. Updates try to reduce these problems. The additional update for macOS 10.14 .5, which is aimed at eliminating problems in connection with the T2 chip, should be mentioned explicitly .

Fifth Generation (Magic Keyboard)

2019

On November 13, 2019, the 16 ″ MacBook Pro was presented as the successor to the 15 ″ model. In addition to the larger display, it has a new keyboard, which, like the third generation, uses a scissor mechanism, again has a physical escape key and arrow keys in an upside-down T arrangement and whose Touch ID button is separate from the touch bar. New features include larger memory configurations, revised speakers, a new cooling system, a new generation of graphics cards and a larger battery with the maximum permitted 100 Wh by many airlines and one hour more runtime. The device is a little bigger, thicker and heavier than the 15 "model of the fourth generation . Compared to the third generation, it is smaller and lighter. The processors still come from the ninth generation from Intel. The starting price of € 2699 has not changed either, but with twice as much memory. Up to 64 gigabytes of RAM and an SSD with up to 8 terabytes can now be configured.

MacBook Pro 16-inch

2020

On May 4, 2020, the 13 ″ MacBook Pro also received the Magic Keyboard. Since then, Apple has stopped selling a device with a butterfly keyboard. Unlike the larger model, the design remained almost unchanged. Due to the new keyboard, the device is slightly thicker and heavier than its predecessor. The SSD storage has been doubled for all configurations, starting at 256 GB. Support for Dolby Atmos is also new . The models with four Thunderbolt connections received further innovations, which are listed below. You are now using tenth generation Intel processors. As a result, they have new graphics processors that support the use of the Pro Display XDR in its full resolution of 6K. Another consequence is the support of newer and faster 3733 MHz LPDDR4X memory, of which 16 GB are now built in as standard in these models. The option for 32 GB RAM has also been added.
