This version was initially particularly successful in Germany and France, where it rose to the top 20 after a few weeks. In Austria, the song rose to number one in the single charts in August 2018 . Furthermore, it was named the official summer hit 2018.
On June 8, 2018, Hugel released the song Signs , which was created in collaboration with the British singer Taio Cruz . While this was not commercially able to follow the success of Bella Ciao , the song WTF , which was released in November 2018, made it into the German-language single charts. The song was recorded with British singer Amber Van Day and was used as the theme song of season 13 of I'm a Star - Get Me Out of Here! used.
