Alok , with full name Alok Achkar Peres Petrillo (born August 26, 1991 in Goiânia ) is a Brazilian DJ and music producer who became famous in 2018 with his single Hear Me Now .

In 2019 he was ranked 11th in their list of the best DJs by DJ Magazine .

Personal

Alok the son of the two is DJs Ekanta (born: Ekanta Jake Peres) and Swarup (born Juarez Achkar Petrillo) which pioneers of psytrance - genres in Brazil were and Universo Paralello , a place annual festival of electronic music on the beach of Bahia , created. He is of Italian , Portuguese, and Lebanese descent. He has a fraternal twin brother named Bhaskar (civil: Bhaskar Achkar Peres Petrillo).

He got his first name on the advice of the guru and philosopher Osho , whom his parents had met on a trip to India . In the Sanskrit language, Alok means "light".

Career

Because of his parents' DJ careers, the two brothers came into contact with the mixer at an early age . In the beginning, both were still in use as a duo until Alok started his solo career at the age of 19. He quickly developed into one of the most famous and influential disc jockeys in Brazil and won various prizes, such as the award for Best DJ in Brazil from the House Mag Records label in 2014 and 2015. In the ranking of the best DJs worldwide, he was in the year In 2016 the only Brazilian in the top 25.

His song Hear Me Now , released by Spinnin 'Records on October 21, 2016 , which he recorded with his compatriots Bruno Martini , achieved popularity within a very short time and helped Alok to become increasingly well known outside his home country. Currently (November, 2019) the track has over 310 million views on YouTube and over 400 million streams on Spotify . The song reached number one on the Billboard charts in Mexico and has charted in many other countries.

The follow-up tracks Never Let Me Go , Big Jet Plane and Ocean also became hits in Brazil and all reached more than 50 million streams on Spotify.
