A handbook presented by her in 2019 is intended to give central banks the impetus to consider sustainability aspects in their portfolios, for example by buying green bonds or exclusion criteria for stocks and bonds of certain companies. Since taking office as a board member of the Bundesbank, Mauderer has repeatedly emphasized the importance of the climate crisis as a source of financial risks. She said: “Climate change can have long-term effects on economic structures and activities, productivity and other important macroeconomic variables such as prices. Even if climate strategies are put in place, societies and economies are likely to face increasing disruption and supply-side shocks due to climate change. "
