Conor Maynard (born November 21, 1992 in Brighton ) is a British pop singer .
Career
Maynard signed up for the video platform YouTube in May 2006 and uploaded an interpretation of the title Breathe by Lee Carr . In the following years, more cover versions followed, some of which he recorded with his friend, rapper Anthony Melo, including Crawl by Chris Brown , Dynamite by Taio Cruz , Price Tag by Jessie J and ET by Katy Perry .
In November 2011 he was nominated by the music broadcaster MTV alongside Delilah , Michael Kiwanuka , Lana Del Rey and Lianne La Havas for the newcomer award Brand New for 2012 , which he won with around 45% of the audience votes. At the end of 2011, he received a recording contract with the Parlophone label and began working on his debut album. His first single Can't Say No was released on April 15, 2012 and rose to number 2 in the UK charts. The song was then published in other European countries and in Australia and was also able to place in the charts there.
Before the album was released, Maynard's second single Vegas Girl was released , which made it to number 4 in Great Britain and, like its predecessor, also reached number 63 in Germany. At the end of July the album Contrast came out and immediately conquered number 1 in the UK charts.
The third single Turn Around with Ne-Yo was released on October 8, 2012. It was already at number 8 in the UK charts. The music video came out on September 10th.
The next single from the album was presented Animal , on which Wiley participated. It was released on January 21, 2013. The accompanying video was released on December 10, 2012. With the track RU Crazy , which was released on October 4, 2013, he reached the top 10 of the British singles charts again. With a placement at number 4, the song was awarded a silver record.
With the single Talking About released in March 2015 , he was unable to continue the success of its predecessor. Royalty followed in April 2015.
In 2016 there were collaborations with various EDM projects. He worked with, among others, Kris Kross Amsterdam , DJ Antoine and Drumsound & Bassline Smith. On the Kris Kross Amsterdam single Are You Sure? he contributed the vocals together with the US rapper Ty Dolla $ ign . The hip-hop track I'm Famous , produced with Marcus Butler, reached number 85 on the British singles chart.
In June 2017 Maynard released the track Understand Me , which was created in collaboration with the Dutch DJ and producer CMC $ and was released on Martin Garrix record label "STMPD RCRDS". The song All My Love was released together with Cash Cash .
With That Way , in collaboration with Simone Giani and Mattia Mavi alias S: DJ: M, a cover version of the song I Want It That Way by the Backstreet Boys from 1999 was released in January 2018. In the summer of 2018, in collaboration with the Swedish DJ and producer Alesso the Future - Progressive -Song Remedy published. This was followed by the future bass song Hold On Tight , which was created in collaboration with R3hab .
On June 22nd, 2018 Maynard released his second collaboration with Kris Kross Amsterdam, in which the Dutch producer The Boy Next Door also participated. A cover version of the song Whenever, Wherever by Shakira from 2001 came out. The cover version made it into the official single charts in Germany, Great Britain and in the dance and electronic category in the USA.
On December 7, 2018, the song How You Love Me , a collaboration with Hardwell and Snoop Dogg , was released.
