The Titãs are one of the most successful Brazilian punk rock bands (others e.g. Paralamas do Sucesso or Barão Vermelho ), which were particularly successful in Brazil in the 1980s and 1990s . Furthermore, they are popular all over South America and tried to gain a foothold in Europe and North America , but without success. At the moment they consist of the musicians Paulo Miklos, Tony Bellotto, Branco Mello, Sérgio Britto and Charles Gavin. They were founded in 1981 in São Paulo .
Important albums
Their greatest sales success was the album Cabeça Dinossauro from 1986. On this album they processed their experiences with the crisis that prevailed in Brazil at this time. In the song Policia , for example, they deal with the arrest of their singer by what they see as an unjust police force.
Also noteworthy is their first work Titãs , which only had a circulation of 22,000 copies, but at that time they were still a long way from their current musical style.
history
The founding members met, for the most part, at a school in São Paulo. When they founded the Titãs in 1981, they first had to paddle through various nightclubs to be able to stay afloat. Her style at the time could best be described as a mixture of pop and new wave . In 1984 they signed their first record deal with WEA Records .
