DJ Energy (born Roger Begley ; * 6. October 1973 in Zurich ; † 14. August 2011 ) was a Swiss Trance - DJ .

life and career

His career began in the late 1980s. His breakthrough came in the 1990s through his involvement in the “ Energy ” rave party of the same name , which takes place in the Hallenstadion after the Zurich Street Parade .

DJ Energy committed to the trance style early on and made a major contribution to the breakthrough of trance music through its popularity. He was one of the first DJs to publish their mixes on CD, thus ensuring the commercial distribution of trance music. In 2004 he caused a stir when he contributed the music to a porn after show party and released it on DVD. He was the only DJ who played at every "Energy" in the Hallenstadion until 2010. He produced the hymn to «Energy» ten times.

DJ Energy passed away on August 14, 2011, the Sunday after the 20th Street Parade, at the age of 37. He hung up at the parade, but for health reasons was unable to make his appearance that night at the «Energy». He died that night in his apartment in Zurich. The autopsy report of the Institute for Forensic Medicine at the University of Zurich , which appeared in March 2012, says: “We see mixed intoxication as the cause of death, which has led to death via a central regulatory failure in the brain. (...) Whether the ingestion resulted in accidental or suicidal death cannot be conclusively assessed ». It was known that Beglinger was taking medication for severe pain because he sustained an ear injury and a tear in his shoulder when he fell at home in July 2011 .
