Anthony Rother (born April 29, 1972 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a German electro musician and founder of the record labels psi49net , Stahl Industries , Datapunk and Telekraft Recordings .

Rother has so far produced under various pseudonyms such as Family Lounge , Little Computer People , Lord Sheper or Psi Performer . A strong influence of the Kraftwerk group and early Detroit techno can be seen in his works . His reinterpretation of the Kraftwerk titles Trans Europa Express and Numbers / Computerwelt caused a stir . In addition to his own productions under various pseudonyms, Rother is also a sought-after remixer .

Life

Rother founded his first band in 1988. Through the acquaintance of Heiko Laux , Rother had the opportunity to publish his first record on his label Kanzleramt Records .

In previous albums, Rother often dealt with technological phenomena such as biotechnology and hacking . Through the integration of vocoderated texts ("Biomechanics, life is coded, feelings generated, nature perfected"; in biomechanics ) and quotations (e.g. a daily news report about data theft ; in Protektor ), Rother shows himself to be somewhat technology-critical and thus poses a Specialty in the techno scene, which is considered hedonistic and enthusiastic about technology.

His album Popkiller , released in 2004, is a mixture of synth pop and neo-electronic and was received ambiguously by some fans due to the relatively insignificant vocoder lyrics. Even so, it was voted the third best album of 2004 by readers of Groove magazine . In the magazine's surveys, Rother has been voted one of the best German techno live acts for several years.

Contrary to a rumor spread especially on the Internet, Anthony Rother is not the son of former Kraftwerk member Michael Rother .

Rother currently lives in Offenbach am Main .
